My wife just got her Biometric done. This was for the conditional removal of her 2-year GC. Can she travel while the approval is pending? Or if you got the Biometric appointment done, does it means you're on your way to approval if the Biometric clears? I understand that if you got the extension 1-year letter for GC and your expired GC, you can re-enter the U.S., right? We got the extension letter after UCSIS Service Center got our I-751 application. Does she also need her passport of her country if she travels and re-enters the U.S. and/or does she have to change her passport to her married last name like mine? It currently has her maiden last name. Please help me. Thanks.

YES

You will receive a notice of receipt for the form stating that "Your alien card is extended one year - employment and travel authorized". Keep the receipt with your green card.

OK, thanks for the prompt reply, but does she still also need her country's passport to re-enter U.S.? If so, does the last name of the passport (maiden) have to match up with the GC (married name)? Or it don't matter.

Your wife can easily travel while she's removing conditions, but remember when travelling, your wife always needs to have her passport, greencard, and NOA. My husband was not allowed to fly home from Argentina because he didn't have his NOA in his possession (at home in a stack of papers) and his greencard was expired :o. Make sure she always has those items because naturally she'll need the passport for international travel, but it's the greencard and NOA that will get her back into the US when she comes home.

Happy trails!

Or your wife could make an infopass appointment to get a stamp on her passport, which is also valid for travel. Either way she needs her passport to travel outside the country.

It will be ok for your wife to travel with her passport still in her maiden name. Her plane ticket should be made out to the name that's in her passport. Bring a copy of your marriage certificate to show the link between her passport name and GC name.
