The Doctor at your medical will decide which vaccinations you will need. the cost is included in the medical. The Td shot usaully is not available at St. Lukes, so you'll have to get that one here.

There is an advantage to that because a vaccine is now available in the U.S. that adds vaccination for whooping cough, which seems to be more and more prevalent.

The vaccination requirements for different ages is here: http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Age6.htm

I don't believe there is one for TB. Only shots for treatment.

The new vaccine for whooping cough or pertussis can be obtained here in the states. since most of the military service members in Iraq and Afghanistan are developing whooping cough while they're over there, the military immunizes everbody that goes there with Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccines). so, therefore it is available stateside. Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is a vaccine against tuberculosis that is prepared from a strain of the attenuated (weakened) live bovine tuberculosis bacillus, Mycobacterium bovis, that has lost its virulence in humans by being specially cultured in an artificial medium for years. The bacilli have retained enough strong antigenicity to become a SOMEWHAT EFFECTIVE for the prevention of human tuberculosis. At best, the BCG vaccine is 80% effective in preventing tuberculosis for a duration of 15 years, however, its protective effect appears to vary according to geography. ------

so in short there is no shot treatment of tuberculosis. the US does not recognize the BCG as a valid form of vaccine since it "might" only work for a period of 15 years.

what i say might be true or not it depends...
