Hello,

I will have a co sponsor for the I-134, but in the meantime I am a very poor student. Is there a requirement of income or balance in the bank for me even though I will have a co sponsor? Will it look bad if my bank account is not as plentiful as I wish it was? I sure hope not!

Thanks,

K. bye.

No, as far as I can tell it's fine if your accounts are all zeros, as long as you have a cosponsor who meets the requirements. Don't forget to still fill out the I-134, since you are still the primary sponsor, and attach your income taxes or a letter stating why you don't file taxes. I included information on my student loans, too, just to show I'm not totally broke.

They never looked at our I-134, so I have no idea if that was important or not.

Thanks for responding!

So do I need to actually get a letter from my bank stating that I have no money? Or should my brother (my co sponsor) only have to send that in? Will Casa even look at my section of the I-134 as long as I have a co sponsor?

Thanks y'all.

You should fill out the form the same way your co-sponsor will. That includes a statement from your bank, even if it's not impressive, tax returns if you filed them, and pay stubs from any part-time or work-study job you might have. I don't know if they'll look at your I-134; they didn't look at either mine or my co-sponsor's. But it's best to be prepared, you don't want to be held up at the end of all this for a silly reason like not filling out your I-134 correctly!

I too only sent a years of bank statements, and just the front page coz all they want to know is what you deposited, and what your balance is.

I didn't send a letter from my bank, I just sent a year's worth of bank statement copies. I did the same for the AOS.

Why do you need bank statements with the AOS? I thought you just needed to send in you last 3 years worth of taxes. I was not planning to send in bank statments because there is nothing there! I have a bank account, but I am concentrating on paying past debts (from my divorce) before he arrives and not saving anything right now.

What is the difference between I134and I864? Which one do I use?

LOL I think this is one of those times where you are supposed to read the instructions first

I134 and yes I need bank statments or a statment from the bank...I'm gonna opt for a letter from the bank, it will be eaiser and less paper. :D
