We are staying at Ibis Santos Dumont. It really sucks that we have to land in Galeao. I'm flying out from Viracopos (Campinas SP) and unfortunately TAM doesn't fly VCP-SDU. We did have some miles so it was a great deal to get the tickets with them even though we'll need a long cab drive to get us to the hotel.

Oh well...

Anyway, thanks so much!!! We are leaving next Monday!!! So nervous!

We used the prepaid vouchers from the Rio de Janeiro State Tourism Authority desk at the airport, because they're cheaper than the fare would have been (our driver ran the meter but didn't charge more).

But either way, R$80-100 in fees is a heck of a lot more than she will have going from SDU, where she can walk -- it's less than a kilometer away!

Oh well, it's done. Tickets are in hands already. Actually we didn't pay for them, so spend R$100 with taxi is not so bad, since we are traveling for free.

Can anyone with a recent K1 tell me if the A# was printed on the visa? L's visa had no annotations, including no A#, and most of the K1 visas I've seen online had the A# in the annotations section, and many had the fiancé(e)'s name on it. If it's wrong, we need to get on this soon!

Carol, ate onde eu sei vc pode justificar qdo for pro BR em ate 5 dias depois q chegar.

Eu tinha mandado uma carta justificando pq nao tinha votado qdo tava nos USA e minha mae foi la pra entregar. A mulher disse q se quisesse justificar ia ter q mandar um pedido pra juiza, um rolo so. Dai ela pagou uma multa de uns R$3-5 reais e ja era.

Qdo eu voltei pro BR eu fui pegar meu cartao de credito e meu CPF tava invalido. Dai eu fui na caixa economica e paguei R$5,50 pra regularizar. Nao sei se tinha a ver com a eleicao, mesmo pq minha mae foi pagar a multa, mas pra regularizar o CPF foi tranquilo. rs

Nunca tive q justificar pra presidente though.... acredito q seja a mesma coisa. Voce ja tentou ligar pro consulado brasileiro?

Se eu achar alguma informacao posto aqui.

Eu estava sem computador uns tempos e depois estava na Europa!! Voltei da Europa antes de ontem, comprei computador novo e agora estou de volta!!! A minha viagem foi maravilhosa!!! Pra quem quiser ler a respeito tá no meu blog que se não me engano tá linkado na minha sig.

Luis está indo muito bem também, a formatura dele do basic training é dia 17 de Junho, e com certeza eu estarei lá! Eu tive poucas oportunidades de falar com ele mas quando ele liga ele sempre parece tão bem, que acho que com tudo que é mental e fisicamente extenuante ainda assim ele está curtindo, está se sentindo mais forte, tudo novo, orgulho, etc. Fico muito feliz!

E about the elections, in 2006 I got a form on the consulate's website where I could fill out and mail them with my justificativa. If I remember correctly I only needed to vote for president while here, and it could be done by mail, and I could use the justification for 3 elections before having to transfer my title here. Since my consulate is Miami and I live in Puerto Rico there's no way I'd fly there to just transfer my title so I'm waiting till I am closer to a consulate or till the itinerant consulate comes by San Juan. I'll check their website again this year to see how I should proceed with these elections.

Um jeito de justificar é deixar uma procuração assinada pra alguém e pedir que eles vão ao cartório eleitoral com uma cópia do seu passaporte, com as páginas em que o carimbo de entrada nos EUA estão (e de saída do Brasil). A procuração deve ter assinatura reconhecida em cartório; portanto, se você não tem firma aberta no Brasil não adianta tentar esse método. Ah! Outra coisa. Se sua situação está irregular, o CPF fica capenga e quando você for ao Brasil a uma casa de câmbio, não vai conseguir porque eles exigem CPF válido. Dá para transferir o título para o consulado mais próximo de onde você mora (eu perdi o prazo, de modo que vou ter que justificar esse ano de novo), mas não dá pra justificar o voto no consulado. Transferindo o título, você teria que votar no consulado (somente pra presidente, se não me engano), mas não sei direito qual é o procedimento.
