Thank you trinner, it certainly is helpful...and hopeful...to have the stats!

Looks like your turn is right around the corner! Much luck to you!

I think you may have magic powers... RIGHT after I read this message from you, I went to check the USCIS website (like I do a bazillion times a week)... and OMG OMG OMG it showed a touch on 2/17!! (The first update I've seen since sending it in.)

I'm hoping that this means that my approval is coming in the next few days...

It has been over 5 months since I've held my love... this process is cruel.

Hmmm ... we got a touch, too on 2/17. Since this was a Sunday, and I didn't receive an e-mail about this touch, I assume this was just a computer thing.

Was anyone else's case touched yesterday ?

Regards,

Daniel

You will not receive an email about a touch and touches are not a computer thing. You get touches when somebody had touched your application, either just moved it from one desk to the other or worked on it. You will receive an email when they make a decision but some people dont even receive an email about a decision, they might just send you a mail.

Good luck

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

trinner...i'm not superstitious BUT i'm replying again with the hopes that it brings you more luck! I can't even file until April so i'm living vicariously through all of you until then!

I don't want to get your hopes up (although what more do we have than hope?) but the more recent approvals all seemed to have been touched (scanned) right before their NOA2's. I wish the same for you and everyone else who has been waiting!

Nope. Not a thing. Maybe next week. *sigh*

I'm so sorry, Ric. It's terrible. I was thinking about you and Virgil all last week.

We are really hoping for the best for you!

Good luck and hopefully some good news this week,

hz

My case was touched yesterday, looks like new employees are working a lot of overtime.

Not as impatient as I am perplexed...does a lot of touches mean a possible RFE maybe? I guess if this process was a little more transparent, the waiting would be a little easier...

I also agree, May filers still waiting is unacceptable...I firmly believe that everyone should be processed in the order in which they were received...I'm praying for all of you!

RFE's also come at the end of the process so a lot of touches to a recently submitted petition does not mean an RFE is being issued.

Unless there is a major mistake such as sending the petition to the wrong center or forgetting to include the check a NOA1 is issued and the petition is simply put into a case where it remains undisturbed until an officer looks at it. This normally happens months later although there are occasionally petitions that are processed quite rapidly. Once the officer starts processing the case things usually (but not always) move quickly. Review of the petition can take as little as 15 minutes.

I have no explanation for touches early in the process unless people are calling the center and making inquiries. This does nothing to accelerate the process but will result in meaningless touches being recorded.

You have your NOA1 so there is nothing for you to worry about at this point. Just try to relax and pray for everyone in front of you to get approved so that they get out of your way. ;)

Thanks for the reassurance...that's usually what we (newbies) need, just a little explanation to put us at ease. Most of us (definitely me) are only asking questions for clarification since we haven't been living this for very long. I know we sometimes sound impatient...most of the times it's just worry...did we forget to check something, did we put the wrong thing down, etc...We are more than willing to wait our turn, and we wish a speedy process for those in front of us!

It could be but it is also possible they have started working on your petition already. In the old days (mid 2007) they were horribly slow but for the most part processed petitions in the order in which they were received. Now they are a little faster but seem to jump from month to month making it difficult for anyone to predict what petition will be approved next. There have been some December approvals already so it could be you will be one of the lucky ones. :)

There were a number of December filers touched yesterday...all in the December 4th, 5th, 6th range. We sent ours on the 5th.

Then one was approved and they filed on the 14th or something....weird...I don't get how they work..lol

I could accept them working within a 30 day window and not get too upset if they processed some petitions out of order. But this business of processing December petitions when there are people without RFE's who filed well over 6 months ago still waiting is just heart breaking.

I do not begrude anyone their approval but what they are doing now to their so called "customers" is just horrendous.

Probably COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT SPECULATION, but this is how I personally rationalize the processing process. It could MAYBE explain why the processing order is always slightly out of sync with the NOA1 dates. And MAYBE why touches seem to come in batches (ie. so many files getting touched on 2/17)...

I used to work as an accounts representative for the phone company. Once a month, we were handed a big box of files (about 300) to work on for the next four weeks. Each file represented the telephone number and account of a business advertising in the Yellow Pages, and needed to be reviewed and processed for the upcoming year.

This is how we phone company representatives handled it....

When we received the new box of files, we would sort through them to see which could be handled and closed out quickly and easily. We tackled those first, in the interest of closing out AS MANY cases up front as possible. If a file looked complicated or a red flag popped up, we put it into a separate pile to be worked on later. As the month wore on, we would soon be left with only the most complicated files to deal with. There would always be a few files that demanded additional help and review (think RFE). Any files that were not closed out before we received the next month's box (2 or 3 files at most) got transferred to a specialized rep for intensive action, and weeks or months could pass before that file was finally closed out. When a new month began, a new box of files would arrive, and the process began anew!

I could understand this if it was a month or two but for those of my fellow JUne/July/ filers who are still waiting it is no solice .....no case in this process can be that complicated it is just like Bill said NO EXCUSE....NO REASON.....NO EXPLAINATION that can give answers to these couples while people who wait 60-90 days are being approved.....Clear up you backlog with all your new people then start on the newer petitions....It is truly the only fair thing to do
