Rescheduling biometrics in Tampa

Hi,

I received a notice yesterday that my biometrics appointment was scheduled for December 20th. Unfortunately this is the day I'm due to fly back to Ireland for Christmas. My appointment is at 2 in Tampa, our flight is at 6 in Orlando. If I was seen to straight away at the Tampa office I could make my flight but I'm not sure how busy that office gets. Has anyone had a biometrics appointment there recently? How busy was it? Were you seen to straight away?

I am considering rescheduling the appointment and tried calling the 800 number. There doesn't seem to be an option for rescheduling appointments - has anyone rescheduled over the phone? And if so, what number did you call?

My other option is to call the office in Tampa direct (if this is possible). But I can't seem to find a number - can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks for all your help,

Hells

Try an info pass appointment, if the office is not busy they should do your biometrics as a walk-in at a sooner time, if not you can use the appointment to reschedule the biometrics.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Tampa ASC is very busy (its actually in Brandon) and take more than average time to schedule biometrics appointments. There is no phone number to reach either Tampa local office nor the ASC so the only way you can do so is to do an infopass.

My suggestion is if you are able to - do a walk in with your bio appt letter and explain you will be out of town on the date scheduled. They might just do the bios then. Otherwise make an infopass appt to see if the date is able to be changed.

As for waiting times, each time we went (4 times) we were in & out in 20 minutes. Others have not had such great experiences there though.

With the time they take to issue Biometrics appointments it would appear they are busy, either that or just tardy. Hells, that's the other issue, given their track record, unless they can give you another appointment there and then, be prepared for the potential of another 6 weeks plus wait for your appointment.

We waited for 3 hours at Tampa (which the ASC is actually in Brandon) but that was more due to staff incompetence - no supervisor was there at the moment so they were goofing off. When she showed up, they started churning people in and out.

After they sped up, it was pretty quick - out in maybe a half hour.

Also, we were late to our appointment - try showing up earlier that day (maybe noon?) and see if they'll let you in early, they should.

(Our appointment was at 9, so this was early morning)

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Can you do a walk-in appointment any day? If not, I'm going to make an infopass appointment and go that route. I was just on the infopass website - should I select

- You need Service on a case that has already been filed

then

- Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

Or does it really matter?

Thanks again for your help!

If you're close to the Tampa office, try a walk-in first. If they won't take you (or reschedule you) ask if you can do a walk-in at another office. (Assuming this is really important to you and you don't mind the drive.) Make sure you talk to a supervisor. The clerks tend not to be as knowledgeable. Infopass appointments usually take some time to get... and the process is much more time-consuming than just walking into the biometrics office.

Unfortunately I'm about a 2 hour drive away so a walk-in isn't really an option, unless I could do it on a Saturday.

I'm actually thinking I might just go to my scheduled appointment and just hope for the best. If I get there early maybe (a very big maybe) they could see me early. If things are going really slow, I'll have to use my Irish charm ;) to talk to a supervisor to reschedule the appointment or get seen to quicker.

Where are you located?

Could you schedule things that day so you COULD do a walk-in? If you have to go there anyway, showing up a few hours early..etc?

I can't say anything specifically about Tampa, but what's worked for me at the Sacramento ASC on three separate occasions is to just show up whenever with appointment letter in hand. I've probably been a little lucky as I've never been turned away and never had more than about a 10 min wait. Of course it helps that I live about 15 mins away so even if they did tell me to come back later it wouldn't be a big deal. Good luck.
