My previous marriages as well as our age gap were addressed in the initial petition and am sure it will come up. Thats ok...He knew 4 years ago the various situations and reasons for divorce. Im not sure WHY MY previous divorces would hold up our visa? They were each legally teminated and none were to bring another over to the usa. So Im not sure why 3 marriages are a red flag for this process. I would think at the interview point they are more interested in HIM. My past marriages have nothing to do with this one...and he's prepared to state that and state WHY I am divorced: Abuse, Neglect, CHeater and one who decided to go BI....So Im hoping those cant influence this. Why would it?

Congrats on your NOA2 Faith. I think previous cases in Cairo have shown that your circumstances will probably set you up for a longer AP, probably a home visit and your previous three marriages could be considered a judgment issue. So while yes your prior three husbands all sound like they had personal issues, you still married all three and perhaps the CO will see that and question your judgment. So, even though your fiancé will be the one interviewed, some of the questions he may get may be because of personal things that have happened to you. I guess the only silver lining to the Cairo embassy is that while they do not seem to deny as much, you may just be in for a wait. Lastly as far as the age issue, that does not seem to be normal for Egypt and the CO knows that. As others have mentioned it is still possible to eventually get your visa, but the home visits and long AP's all seem to mainly happen with couples with big age gaps. I know that there are some couples who do not have big gaps and had home visits, but it does appear that some of the people in Cairo waiting the longest have big gaps. I really think we can see a two-tiered system in Cairo developing regarding how long people are waiting for their visa. Again, good luck.

I agree about the two tiered system develping in Cairo...

I think the biggest factor to cause AP is

1. HOW you met. If you met in person in Us,Europe. or Egypt then you have a chance of getting the visa without the hell of months of AP. I think they are being biased against people who met online

2 and 3. age - if the women is older than the man by even a few years then they hold your case

- Amount of time spent together in person , number of trips, length of stay

This is just my opinion, but from reading all the timelines/posts this is what I have broke it down to.

It is great you addressed all of this in your petition though, that was the best thing to have done.

Not to say there are not exceptions

Yep WIW, I was thinking the same 2 reasons and yes, Faith was smart to go ahead and address it in the petition because now they are on notice and still approved her.

Exactly.

Those who believe that the petitioner isn't also scrutinized at some point are fooling themselves. Like Jodo said, the consulate may question your judgement in choosing a mate if you've had three previous marriages. They may also question your SO's intentions for wanting to marry a woman who has had three previous marriages and is much older than himself.

Congrats on your NOA2 Faith. Congratulations on completing this part of the process  ...........now on to the next phase of hurry up and waiting.

The advice I would give ya'll is to make sure you have all required documents and then some. It sounds like you have tried to address any issues there might be (regarding previous marriages, etc) as well as you can. Just be prepared to be out in the abyss of the unknown once you are at Cairo. I have not found much reasoning as to why some cases move through Cairo smoothly and others do not. Heres hope for your case that it will move through smoothy with no problems.

Ahhh, I can see them questioning the younger man wanting to marry the older woman with three marriages. Amr and I have addressed this when discussing questions he may be asked at the interview. He has the perfect answer..(or so I view it as that). He is very mature in these things and I think once they meet him, they will see he's not the typcial man there. Hes soft spoken, mild mannered and gives the air of innocence simply by being himself. He'd answer that with the fact that while I had married three times, that is no longer who I am, that is my past, and we are the future. He would acknowledge the truth and state frankly that my past relationships dont and will not affect how he loves me and our future marriage.

My judgment....well..obviously at that time wasn't the best...I've learned a lot since then about myself and have moved on. Im sure he can convey that in the interview. He can answer how we will handle the age difference in my "old" years and he can answer why he loves an older woman. While we addressed this in the petition...and they obviously KNOW of my past marriages....I did include evidence of our relationship in the petition...and will include a cover letter AND summaries and examples of our on going relationship. Hoping they will see this and it will verify the validity of our love. Amr is prepared to show evidence AS he answers questions...and can even discuss how we have and will deal with our differences (if any still exsist). We are both muslim...so im sure that will help to.

Im a bit nervous about this whole thing, but wont let this on to Amr in any way. We are preparing for the worst..as He's more than willing to have me come live there...we addressed THIS issue to...its harder for me to move as I care for my parents who BOTH have progressive dementias (one alsheimers, another with rare pick's disease)...so our options of where to live were llimited for now.

Well, we can use all the luck and Gods Blessings we can get Im sure. Doesn't sound real encouraging to have Visa in 5 months or less though.... :crying: :crying: :crying:

Not to say there are not exceptions

By all means, I would go to the interview if I were you. You'll need as much going in your favor as you can get. You're not supposed to attend the interview but if I'm correct, someone who attended the interview with her husband in Cairo was actually spoken to by the CO. I don't know if it decreased their time at all because I don't remember the outcome of their case, but I imagine it might help just a teeny, tiny bit.

There was one girl on VJ who lived with her husband in Egypt for over a year, and they got the visa even faster than polarbear and I did, but I doubt there was any age gap because she's younger than me and that doesn't leave much room to be older than your man and have it still be legal . (You can find her through the timelines, their interview/visa was done in July).

Best of luck to you Faith! I have a scan of the paper they'll send with packet 3 if you want it.

BTW, NVC will probably send your case quite quickly. By the time I called them for the first time--1 week after our NOA2, it was already off to Cairo!

Divorced. To hell with him.

When do we get to see wedding pics???????/

LOL ...I called already today...NVC doesn't even have it yet. Im sure by weeks end they will...In shaa Allah. I already emailed the embassy months ago about permission to come to the interview to wait with him. I have it in writting that I can. Im sure im not allowed at the window...but just having my passport in his hand, when they ask.."when was the last time you met" he can say...3 days ago...she's here with me now over there waiting..and show hiim my passport....PRICELESS. Anyways...Im hoping all goes well....I will email again when I get my new case number. I know we have alot to account for but i know our love will guide the way. God is in control. He knows what is best for us and HE knows what we need. Amr and I have a solid, real relationship and after time of soul searching and finding out about ME...Im ready to move on to this marriage and make it work. I was stupid and "settled" for others that weren't what I needed and it took a while to figure that out. But Im pretty sure I have it now. He thinks that will show in the interview.

I asked him today..what he will respond if they ask why he wants to marry a woman divorced three tiimes. His answer is: " First of all her past is past, and I love her. We spent a long time tallking about what the right decision would be, reviewing any differences that may arise and discussing what we both needed and wanted from a marriage. We both felt this was a good fit and decided we wanted to move on and now we'd like to marry. We both feel we are ready for this and love each other very much." WOW what an answer...I almost cried..........

Congratulations on your NAO2, we have almost the same approval date. We'll have to keep in touch as to what is happening with our cases. I wish you only the best of luck in all of this and hopefully the CO that interviews your fiancee will realize that in life things happen and that finally you have found each other and all of the other steps you took, led you to where you are today. May God bless you and best wishes always!
