In fact, they didn't believe Javier was Mexican and wanted to deport him to Italy. How fun that would have been!

Why did they think he was from Italy??

AS, you got me on that one! It was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard-first off, he doesn't look or speak Italian, second, he was caught with a bunch of Mexicans!!!

Interesting. If they sent him to Italy, assuming the Italian government took him, would he have become (legally) an Italian?

What? There are Chinese illegal immigrants?

I thought they were all from Mexico and Central America. Whenever I see the rallies, they're all speaking Spanish. Maybe I missed all the Chinese illegals also chanting in Spanish. They must know it, it IS our national language...

I like Red Bull.

It's not very delicious though. The flavor is kind of weird.

Ever drink a Jolt and then take some Vivarin? Those were the days.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yes::lol::yes::lol:

Red Bull is only really ok with vodka...

Honestly, I don't know how that all works. I'm sure, like in this situation, they have to clear it with the government first which probably would have brought about that he was not in fact Italian. However, if by some small chance he had been sent to Italy, I think we would have at least a brief "Terminal" situation (really interesting movie) where he can't go back where he came from but they won't let him in. They'd have him on a plane to Mexico, I'd assume.

What about Red Bull mixed with pork chops......if red bull gives you wings and pork is pigs then technically we have made pigs fly.

If that doesn't work, then stuff those babies with Jolt! Imagine a bunch of energy laced pigs running around....that's totally out of character for the pig.

Did that once too.....drove from Oregon to WI and slept for 3 hours. Couldn't do that again though....very stupid but time efficient.

Ok, what if someone illegally snuck into the United States from the norther border and claimed he was Canadian. Assume he has no documentation at all and speaks English. Will Canada take him back? If they do, wouldn't that amount to a de facto admission by Canada that he is Canadian? And once he is Canadian and has the papers to prove it, how hard can it be to get into the US?

AS, you're bringing this to a level that's higher than my powers of comprehension! :P

I know they have ways of finding out this stuff. Javier mentioned that he had to provide addresses of relatives...now I don't think they actually checked up on that. He had a Mexican driver's license, so he at least had some documentation. His birth certificate could have been provided if necessary. I think you have to fill out something like the G-325A with all your past employment/addresses. I'm sure they would check on that if there was any doubt. But the fact of just releasing him into Canada doesn't exactly give him any rights in Canada, if he's not Canadian. They don't give you anything that certifies, yes you really are Canadian. So he'd be therefore illegal in Canada as he was before he entered the US.

The US has repatriation treaties with of the countries in the world. They are required under the treaty to take back their own citizens if they can verify that they are citizens.

Big problem is that the US doesnt have treaties with everyone. These indocumented ppl are held viirtually foreven in immigration detention...for instance ppl who have been convicted of a crime from Cuba.

I think its in the Sumpreme Court right now under unusal and cruel pushishment. Cant hold someone for a lifetime.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

We all need to unite and not talk about illegal immigration for like a week.....we need to ween ourselves off of the addiction. I'm having much more fun talking about robot sex and Tom Cruise eating a placenta. Don't kill my buzz.

Actually this may be the calm before the storm. Who knows what Congress will do when they reconvene.

Why do I post this stuff?

Let's see...I can easily visit my foreign relatives, but my government can't trust them enough to issue them a temporary tourist visa to ever see us over here...because they might illegally immigrate. Not earth shattering, but annoying. But an illegal alien with zero ties to the USA should get rewarded with amnesty and a path to US citizenship?

My cousin's daughter has applied for a program through the US embassy in Minsk that allows university students to work here in the USA during summer breaks, but has been denied repeatedly without explanation. Yet millions enter illegally and easily work illegally with little chance of sanctions...and are rewarded with proposals from our politicians for amnesty and a path to citizenship for not applying legally?

My wife's father and siblings must travel over a thousand miles to be interviewed, fingerprinted, and background checks at the US embassy in Russia with no guarantee that they will even get a visa to come see us? They would probably have a easier chance if they flew into Mexico, crossed the border as OTM's, and got issued a summons to appear later for deportation, and got released into the USA.

It was absolutely impossible for my wife (then fiancee) to get a tourist visa to come visit me...ever! So why should anyone that enters the USA illegally or breaks the terms of a visa be allowed to stay?

I have had foreign relatives a lot longer than many people on this forum have had dealing with getting their spouses and wives here. The answer is to crack down hard on illegal immigrants and the employers that hire them. These proposals to reward the illegals with permanent residency and paths to citizenship is never going to deter anything. I cannot repeat enough that this is no solution and is instead a huge magnet.

If the day ever comes when temporary visitors to the USA and potential illegals realize that they cannot easily work illegally or even have a remote chance of rewards for illegal immigration...maybe it will be easier for the people that do it the right way.

Unfortunately the politicians have another agenda. Maybe a lot of heat from their constituents will have an effect on them. The problem has gotten worst every year.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
