Hi all,

Do the Indian consulates accept Direct Consular filings? I got married on 20th of Nov in India. I am thinking of skipping the whole K3 visa processing time and going to India to work for a couple of years so I can be close to my wife. I can then do a DCF at my own convenience and basically skip any time my wife and I would be apart.

So, I am wondering if Indian consulates accept DCF. Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, but you need to be a resident in the consular district for 6 months or more before filing the I-130 to the consulate.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Yep, sounds like a nice plan. Also nice to get to experience her home country for a while. I've enjoyed doing that in the UK with my British husband. :)

Thanks a lot! Excellent news. I was really stressed out about the 8-10 month wait for the K-3 visa, and being apart for so long. This makes so much more sense. Luckily I have the option of working from India for a couple of years. I feel sorry for others who are unable to take this option.
