"Approved" during AOS interview in July but no Green Card yet?!

My wife and I went to her AOS interview in July. All went well and he said we were approved, and as soon as he got her medical records sent to him (due to a long story the original records were in another office), we could expect the card in a month. We called the NRC who said the requested records were sent to his office and we followed up with an i-693a sent registered mail to his office, both in August. We have gotten no touches, no RFE's, no updates online, and no mail of any kind since then. All calls to NSC tell us we have to wait another 3-5 months (depending upon the person answering the phone that day), or to get an Infopass appointment, and that in any case they have no contact with the local district office handling my case (the same local office whose number is unlisted). We have an Infopass appointment this week and I have my congressman's office looking into the case.

Are there any other information channels or actions available to us?
