How Strict is NVC on DS230 Review?

Ok.. Is NVC really strict on reviewing DS230?

This is our situation..

We have some typo errors on our marriage contract, like on my Nationality it was written Filipino. But I am an American Citizen.

See I didn't worry about this when I filed our I-130 with USCIS because I spoke to an Immigration officer and told me that I shouldn't worry about it cause I have a copy of my passport and my Certifacate of Naturalization to back it up.

But now this is NVC.. Same marriage contract.. I cannot back this up because its my wife's form. Am I right? DS230 is for my wife and the supporting documents are for her verifications.

So Is NVC going to make a big deal out of this?

By the way.. We are in the process of getting it fixed.. As of matter of fact we already have our court order for the approval to get it fixed.

Please HELP me in this situation on what should I do.. Many Thanks...

It depends on who process it but it doesn't seem to be a big deal. If not, then you'll get an RFE and then you'll have a chance to correct it.

The question is HOW? Like I said the only suggestion an Immigration Officer had to tell me was to back it up with strong evidence.. Which is a copy of my passport and Certificate of Naturalization.

But now this is not my issue no more.. Its my wife's DS230...

There is simply nothing you can do at this point but wait for the marriage certificate to get fixed. You don't even know if the NVC will have a problem with it or not, right? So don't sweat it. If they send you an RFE and you don't have the fixed marriage certificate, then all you can do is send a copy of your passport and/or birth certificate and that's it.

I was getting paranoid on my issue.. So I decided to call NVC Live Operator and this is what I got..

Well she suggested me to attached a photocopy of my Passport and Certificate of Citizenship AKA Certificate of Naturalization. Also attached a cover letter explaining the typo and support for the typo.

I also mentioned about our court order from the Philippines Stating that the typo is in the process of getting fix.

She also told me to attached a copy of that Court Order..

Wheww.... :dancing: What a relief...

Thanks to the people who tried to help me with my problem..

Additional message...

She also told me that I stressed to much with this issue cause I have gone so far from the process.. She added I would have gotten denied from USCIS if it was a real big issue with the typo.

When the NVC operator tells you that you are stressing too much it's time to relax a bit

I am glad that you sorted things out. Have you noticed the typo as soon as they issued the marriage certificate?

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
