Guys, I've done searches in the archives and posted some questions in another forum - but no luck in any response yet, and the more I read the more cross-eyed I get. :help::wacko: I need clarification of the following:

1. For the K3, do you get an email or something in the mail from NVC to know that NVC has received it? I've been reading about people saying they got a number from NVC, but I can't figure out how they got it.

2. I understand the K3 spends only a couple of days at NVC before being sent to the Embassy and you can then call the Embassy to confirm receipt by using the number that NVC assigns the file.

3. Once the Embassy gets your file from NVC, can you just print out the DS-230 form from the online link and submit it to the embassy before you get your Packet 3? (in order to get a quicker interview date) Or is there some barcode on the one the Embassy sends you ? I'm asking this because I've been reading about people printing out and cutting and pasting barcodes on forms. If you do print it out, do you need to put the NVC number on the DS-230?

4. Are the medical and police certificates a part of Packet 3 for most Embassies (my concerns is New Delhi)? Can you have these done and ready to go before you actually get the Packet 3? Do you need to give the doc and the police the NVC number?

5. Is the AOS I-134 and supporting docs submitted at the interview or before the interview?

I know there are a lot of questions, but I really have fried my brain on this (yes, yes, maybe my brain ain't so large). Any help would be so much appreciated!

1. For the K3, do you get an email or something in the mail from NVC to know that NVC has received it? I've been reading about people saying they got a number from NVC, but I can't figure out how they got it.

You will need to pro-actively phone the NVC and talk to one of their customer service reps. The K3 passes through so quickly that it is not entered onto their automated system.

2. I understand the K3 spends only a couple of days at NVC before being sent to the Embassy and you can then call the Embassy to confirm receipt by using the number that NVC assigns the file.

Yes, that's correct. Once you speak to a human at the NVC they will give you a new case number starting with 3 letters that represent the consulate/embassy you will be interviewing at. You can then use this new case number to contact the embassy to see whether they have received it or not.

I have not heard about this for K3, the printing and cutting out of barcodes sounds like something from James shortcuts for the I130, at the NVC stage. However, after receiving my packet 3, there is nothing in there that I couldn't have done online first (filling in and printing DS-230 part 1 and DS-156) the only other things the packet contained were the checklist to send back to the embassy to say I have everything ready and the information for where to go for the medical.

4. Are the medical and police certificates a part of Packet 3 for most Embassies (my concerns is New Delhi)? Can you have these done and ready to go before you actually get the Packet 3? Do you need to give the doc and the police the NVC number?

Yes, they are compulsory. Yes, you can have the police certificate done early (it is generally valid for at least 6 months, but this varies by country). For the medical, you can theoretically book the medical as soon as you are given the new case number from the NVC, as long as you know who the official medical practitioner is who would have to carry out the exam. You may want to check with your regional forum to ask a more specific audience.

5. Is the AOS I-134 and supporting docs submitted at the interview or before the interview?

As far as I am aware the I-134 and other supporting documentation are taken with the beneficiary to the interview. This is the case for me but not sure if there are differences with your embassy. The only items that are sent on beforehand are the checklist and DS-230, DS-156 and (if applicable) DS-157.

So, is the interview date issued after checklist along with documents are received at embassy or does packet 3 contain all the info i.e. interview date/time, madical etc...

Thanks

The London interviews are scheduled after the embassy has received back the checklist to say you have everything ready. This does vary by embassy though (some embassy's do not use packet 4 "interview packet").

I sent off my DS forms yesterday (as they state they need them back immediately) and will be sending my checklist at the end of the week (Josh hasn't got his tax transcripts yet but it shouldn't cause me too much of an issue considering London have a 2-3 month wait for interview). It will be a nice Christmas present if I have my interview date by then, but I think we are cutting it close to get a letter back in the next 2.5 weeks

Forgot to say, the details for the medical (i.e who the doctor is, where they are located) are contained in packet 3 but you have to organise the medical yourself. The embassy do not schedule that for you.

Thanks C and J. I wish you best of luck and hopefully you'll get your interview date before Christmas.
