Taking the scenic route thru NVC

Does anyone know if it's held against you if you puttered along thru NVC? We're a bit slow all the way around. Filed for a CR 1/IR 1 instead of a K visa, filed in July 2006, nearly a year and a half after marrying. Things moved quickly thru CSC, and our IR 1 petition was sent to NVC about a year ago. Fees were paid, then my husband got cold feet and begged me to move there. He's never been over enthused about moving to the US. Not so much against it, but hestitant.

So, while we renegotiated living and travel arrangments, time passed, and I made sure to keep in touch with the powers that be at NVC and respond to a couple of RFE's. We are soon to close there FINALLY, but if there is a prejudice against slow boaters, I'd like to be prepared. Most couples try to shoot thru, if they can. We're among the exceptions.

Any comments/suggestions? Thank you in advance!

I think you have 1 year to complete the steps at NVC when filing with a CR1/IR1. but I'm not sure. I thought it was like this a few years ago. I canceled a petition of this sort from a few years ago, but I remember having 1 year to complete my steps through NVC. Shoot....but I'm not certain. I do know that your case should still be active. I think if you call them, they will have better answers for you. Good luck!

If you're still within the processing time frame you should be fine. Many people have to take care of things before moving to the States and delay the process as much as they can, it's pretty normal.

I agree, I think you have a year. Although...our I130 was sent there in August and in October my husband received a letter (at his family's home) asking if he still wanted to go forward with the petition.
