Flight to Europe with a stop in the US

Maybe someone here has gone through this and can help me.

My husband is booking a vacation for us in europe, and he wants my connection to be in Chicago, so we'll be on the same plane and arrive together.

Will I need a transit visa, and will I even be granted one? Wound I get in trouble with customs and be sent back?

Should i just ask him to get me a conection somewhere else?

Thanks!

You'll need to comply with any US entry requirements. Normally, I recommend this website for such information.

http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations...rt_information/

It says for Brazil transiting USA to France....

/ 03DEC07 / 2243 UTC

National BRAZIL (BR) /Transit U.S.A. (US)

ALSO CHECK DESTINATION INFORMATION BELOW

U.S.A. (US)

pre-inspected in Canada, must deplane the aircraft and proceed

directly to either the Federal Inspection Services (FIS) area

passengers going to the in-transit/progressive clearance

lounge will go through a CBP inspection.

Until further notice, all in-transit passengers and passengers

on progressive flights will be inspected at the first U.S.

port of arrival. This supersedes previous in-transit passenger

processes. These new procedures also require CBP inspection of

progressive flights (flights clearing passengers at more than

one port) at the first port.

Non-compliance with transit requirements will result in fines

varying between USD 2,000 and USD 3,000 per passenger at

transit point (detention costs at carrier's expense).

The USA has no such thing as a transit visa... As was previously mentioned, all individuals are processed and admitted to the USA at the POE and if you do not qualify for admittance you will be turned back. In fact, if you do not possess a US visa, the airline will not even allow you on the plane. Best to go via a different routing.

Well, I just read at the São Paulo consulate website that I need a C-1, a transit visa.

I was wondering if they can turn me down for this visa just as they would do to a tourist visa, just because I'm already involved in K-3

Tha Consulate's website has not been updated. Please read again, that the use of transit visas (USA) has been discontinued.

What I understood from this, which is the same thing i read in the consulate website, is that transiting without a visa has been suspended and is no longer allowed (i think that has been in effect since 2003)

Right below that, it said that the visa I'm supposed to get is the C-1, the transit visa
