Did anyone else notice this?

Under Document Requirements it says:

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

But under Getting the applicant's documents back, it says:

Note: Only one original or certified copy of each document must be submitted with the visa application.

Yeah amberlynn,

That's was the second reason I was scratching my head :P

This is what I see on the Manila site:

Applicants must submit application documents to NVC to be documentarily qualified for the visa interview. Unless all requirements are submitted, the Embassy cannot process a visa application to completion. Be mindful of the expiration dates of the required documents, and bring updated ones to the interview if necessary.

I think maybe they are talking about 2 different things, perhaps Direct Consular Filing vs NVC processing?

- I'm not saying you shouldn't, I'm just thinking that for some people the added expense of getting more originals, when not required, might be a waste of money.

Is documentarily an actual word?

not sure what is hard to understand.... they want one original or certified copy of each document and one photocopy of each document... they don't want you to send in 2 certified or original copies...

I don't see what it will hurt to do this....

I was only confused because I was overthinking it and now that I re-read it, it makes sense and doesn't seem confusing. :)

I'm just always afraid I will screw something up and make this long process take even longer.

Hi Trailmix,

We just submitted DS230 via Jame's short cut on Nov 29 and NVC has entered the form into their system. The form was generated on Nov 12.

When we submitted the doc, this message hasn't shown up yet. So we didn't attach a copy of the original documents. Do we have to send in with the copy again? I am really worried.

I don't want to receive RFE because I didn't attache a copy! .....

Anyone has an idea of this?

April 28 2007 sent I-130 to NVC

May 22 2007 application transfered to CSC

July 11 2007 received NOA1, decide to apply CR1 instead of K3

Aug 14 2007 touched (not sure if it is touched before Aug 14)

Aug 21 2007 NOA2 in snail mail :)

Aug 27 2007 NVC received our case, number is assigned.

Sep 11 2007 DS3032 and AOS bill generated and mailed out

Sep 12 2007 mailed out DS3032 from Canada and hubby mailed AOS bill in US. DS3032 will arrive NVC 3 days slower than AOS bill.

Sep 18 2007 Auto msg says NVC received DS3032, didn't mention AOS bill yet.

Sep 24 2007 IV fee bill generated

Oct 8 received IV fee bill. Still waiting for 864form

Oct 13 received 864form letter. It was issued on Sep 24 at NVC. Mailed out 864 on Oct 15

NVC agent said they don't receive IV fee bill nor 864. Send out IV fee bill again end of Oct.

Nov 8 IV fee bill entered to system

Nov 12 DS230 generated. But agent still said 864 is not received yet.

Nov 20 resend out 864 again(Hubby forgot to write case number on documents last time)

Nov 27 NVC Auto message said received 864, now waiting for 230

Nov 29 230 delivered. Will arrive at NVC next day.

Dec 3 NVC received 230 and put into its system

Dec 13 NVC operator told us the case is in administrative process.

Dec 14 Called operator again, and magically the case is completed!

and btw, when I check the instructuctions on Nov28, nothing changed online. And now it suddently changes. Anyone know when the rule changed? My 230 was generated on Nov 12. Would it follow this rule?

So bad we just missed out this update....:(

Hi whitesnail,

I wouldn't worry about it at all. You did all the right things, checking the online instructions before sending. I'm sure they will allow a grace period for people who submit without copies anyway.

I don't think this applies to you, so just celebrate getting your stuff to the NVC and I hope it's a really speedy process for you :)
