just totaled my total hours for this year......

2080 work hours a year (52 weeks, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day) = 2080.

my hours thru 31 dec = 2938. yes that averages 56 hours a week but the overtime is in 1-2 week shots, 91 hour weeks (13 hour shifts each day).

Mental work can be far more stressful than physical labour. The reason we require sleep has to do far more with the brain than brawn. It's our mind that needs the most rest.

Braggards who sit behind a computer screen all day. What's next...you'll say you can swim the English channel without using your legs?

Are you suggesting that mental work is less tiring than physical work?

TOKYO (Reuters) - A Toyota Motor Corp employee died of overwork after logging more than 106 hours of overtime in a month, a judge ruled on Friday, reversing a ministry's earlier decision not to pay compensation to his widow.

106 hours in a month? what a wimp.

106 hours overtime, not 106 hours total.

Still a wimp though, I agree. I've been doing a lot more than 106 for several years now.

Same here. In civilian life my record is close to 200 hours of OT in a month. It the Navy it was much higher.... with no extra pay.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

With no diisrespect to Big Dog, Yes, you are stilling standing. But not everyone is you. This is a highly subjective. I know a man that has worked 12 hours 7 days a week for several years. I also know people that can barely handle 40. We are all different with individual capacities. A GMC Sierra truck can handle a bit more payload than a Kio Rio. We aren't all super duty trucks.

My opinion is this... No one should ever be forced to work overtime. If you want it, fine. But, if you don't , then you should be able to go home after your normal day. I have a family and life outside of work. Sometimes I like the money and other times I just want to go home after my day and see them.

My first job in the US was 60-80 hour workweeks - never less than that. I've done that for three years with no vacation during the first. I'm still standing.

So true. I was at my most stressed and drained when I was working on multiple cases at one time and being expected to just bil, bill, bill for hours!
