Oi Pessoal -- Hey Peoples!

Ta bom, temos entrevista 4/12, terca. Ficamos sabendo sexta a noite.

OK, so we got an interview for Dec. 4, Tuesday. We found out Friday night. She doesn't have police certificates or an

appointment with the doc. What are our chances of getting everything done Monday? Is it better to try to change the date of the interview (and waste time calling) or just go there even if she doesn't get everything. Anyone have experience changing the interview or going without a document?

Valeu -- Thanks, Jess

Hey Jess,

If your fiancee is from Sao Paulo, it will take 45 days to obtain the Federal Police Certificate.

My Fiancee went 2 weeks ago to get this and her apt. to pick it up is Jan 2008.

Getting the doctor apt is quite easy. Here are a few doctors in SP if she needs them

MÉDICOS EM SP

Did you not receive the Interview date letter earlier? Im confused on how the Embassy sheduled so fast.

Have your Fiancee Log into Orkut, there is one great community she can read, and post questions. My fiancee learned so much from there, and it has been a great help.

if i were you i would ask to re-schedule a new interview.... phone: Consulado do Rio de Janeiro: (21) 3823 2021

Good Luck,

I know someone who moved their K1 interview because it was scheduled fast. They had no problem.

I think I set up hubby's medical exam like a month in advance.

He lived in AM and it's super fast to get the atestados..I think a day or 2.

Hi Scott and Cati,

My fiancee lives in Minas Gerais and I went to the U.S. embassy in Rio's website and found that the clostest federal police address is in Belo Horizonte, MG. The link for the state police did not work so I'm not sure who to contact for that. Regardless, how does this process work? Do you contact both police and request a report since she was 16 stating she has not been convicted? How about the part of living in the same address for the last 5 years? Wouldn't local police have that report?

We have received the NOA2 and are trying to get the other documents ready before she is contacted by the NVC (I assume SHE would be contacted).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jack

She can go to the local police and ask for the states police certificate. The part about living 5 years, all she needs is to get police certificates from the places she has lived. Has she lived in other states since? Or only MG?

Thanks. I will suggest that she go to BH and get both the federal police document and visit the doctor. At what point is the $131 fee paid? I understand it is done at a Citibank so cuold she pay it in BH? She mentioned something about paying for her tourist visa a year ago at the consulate, but I don't know about that.

I took a bus and went to Curitiba to pay the Citibank fee. The week I went to the interview the banks were on strike and if I hadn't done that i wouldn't be able to pay before the interview, like if I left to pay in Rio for example.

Knowing banks in Brazil the way I do I would never risk...
