The last touch we received on the I-485 was when my hubby had the biometrics appt back in December!

This is all our online status says..

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On December 4, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

So is our case still in Chicago where we mailed it??? sigh

Another question: Have any K3's been approved? I am having a hard time understanding how a marriage that is 12 years old takes longer to process than a K-1 marriage.

Marriage : 1995 - 13 years of marriage and 2 children together

Living in the USA

Glad we're not the only one! I just hope that means that we won't need to interview.

My wife and daughter had their interview(s) today in Milwaukee. The IO had all three of us in at the same time, collected a few documents from us (primarily the proof of marriage items ie: bills, accounts, 07' taxes, insurance et. al).

The questioning was all over the map. He only asked me how we had met, and then seemed to run down the checklist of other questions with my wife, and then a few with our 11 year old daughter.

He concluded the interview with only a few words about hearing something by mail later and that if approved the cards will follow. I asked about turning in the work authorization & AP documents, and he said to hang on to them as we were not approved yet, but would be given instructions to send them in once the cards are received. He asked if we had any questions or concerns, and I told him I was disappointed in not knowing

of the the approval at the interview. It sounded like our case was going back to the service center, and I guess I am dumbfounded by all of this.

I guess the guys demeanor was ok. He joked with our 11 year old over some of the questions. We did witness what appeared two (2) Stokes interviews while we were there, and I suppose if there was anything to really worry about we would have been interviewed seperately as well.

So, we're back to waiting again.

Just so everyone knows,

We filed at the end of December and now we have our PHYSICAL GREEN CARD. It got to our home about a week after the interview. The interview was gruelling. The man was not nice, only asking questions about what we have together financially, rent, phones, car payments. We had NOTHING. We live in a friends basement rent free and have NO bills in the same name. He was very disappointed and I don't think he believed us. After 5 minutes of asking about why we're not financially together, he then asked "So, then, how are you going to prove to me that you're actually married?" I told him to look at our photos of our wedding, then that and our word was all that we had. I do figure it's because we name dropped that the judge that married us, a family friend, is a member of our state's supreme court. He then said he may need more information from us later to prove more, but that was it for the day. The interview was 10 minutes! I asked him, if we were to be approved how long would it take us to find out.... "anywhere between two weeks and 8 years!" I was so PISSED. He didn't let on that we were approved, but we got a letter 3 days later saying "welcome to america" and that the green card was approved. It was post marked the same day of the interview. The green card arrived 5 days later.

Good luck everyone, and get financially married! It will take a bit of stress off when they ask the questions....

I hate that there are so many people working for US that have a huge chip on their shoulders. Some people have nothing better to do than to try to strike fear into other people or try to make them miserable. But that's great that you got your green card! Congratulations and enjoy being done with USCIS for a while!

Don't feel too bad. I am still seeing the same message as you. I found out about the Biometrics interview a month after we missed it by calling the service center. Luckily the local office was not busy and they did the Biometrics when we walked in to try and reschedule. If I hadn't called, I would still be waiting and wondering, like now. The national benefits center is in Missoury. Hence the M in MSC. Or should that be Misery??? So far we never recieved any paper work, except one NOA in the beginning.

AOS Timeline

11/29/07 - Fedex'd to Lockbox (Chicago)

12/3/07 - Delivery confirmation..........

12/21/07 - Checks cashed!!!

01/10/08 Paper NOA1 for daughter received - Postmarked 12/20/07

MSC# on back of check doesn't match MSC# on NOA.

01/31/08 Still no news for wife. All three numbers still come up red on-line.

02/26/08 Called USCIS 800 number. Very friendly and helpful individual and supervisor.

Found out correct MSC numbers. Also found out that we missed the Bio!

We never received any appointment letter. (Originally set for January)

Went to local support office and asked about re-scheduling the Bio. Very nice manager at the office

did our Bio then and there, without having to wait since they were not busy.

April 8 and still waiting.......

May 11....and waiting, and waiting...not even a touch.

May 24 received NOA2 appointment for Interview for 30 July. Web page still not updated.

July 30 - Interview. APPROVED. Green card will be sent.

9/12/08 Called USCIS asking where GC's are?

10/15/08 Get letter from USCIS that GC's were sent August 8. Never received them.

10/20/08 Sent forms and $740 for two new GC's.

11/7/08 Received confirmation of receipt for new GC's.

11/12/08 Received BIO appointment.

11/25/08 Bio done.

Waiting, waiting, waiting

January 2009 finally received GC!

May 3 2010 Filed for Removal of Conditions.

June 21 Bio appointment.

August 11 Approval letter. No Interview.

August 21 - 10 Year card received.

I think once you send off your AOS packet you're okay. As long as it wasn't a year before you sent it off.

I sent an email to my congressman, I hope someone there responds soon. On the other hand, I don't want to delay AOS too long, I wonder if it wouldn't just be simpler to do the medical.

I read in another thread that after this same type of RFE the person had the medical redone and still got a pending denial letter because a TB test hadn't been done. I asked hubby and he said the only time they stuck him was to take blood, so that means no TB test. He had an X-ray, but they obviously don't have that because we do.

Just starting the journey, haven't yet filed... Until today(2/12/07)!
