awwww....Karo...it isn't bad at all!!

I really hate my hair right now....before I moved to this town I had the same hairdresser for like 20+ years, started going to him when he was just an apprentice.

I always kept my hair shortish, blonde and spiky...now it is brown and long and I hate it!! :(

it looks good Karo...

I always wanted long long hair when I was a kid and my mother said it should be shorter because it was easier to look after. So I'd grow it for a year or two and then she'd say 'time for a cut' and chop it all off again. When I was 12 she midjudged the length and instead of making it shoulder length she made it much shorter and it bounced up into big curls all over my head. I was mortified but after awhile I got used to it and I kept it short all through high school.

It's been long for the last dozen years, but I'm always thinking about repeating the short short cut to see what happens. Long hair is a pain in the summer, especially in Florida!

No it isn't a hairdresser "code". I used to be a hairdresser. Part of the problem is in order to make a profit personally and for the salon you work for you have to do a certain number of haircuts/perms etc per day. There is usually a half hour limit to a haircut, this includes shampoo and styling. 15 minutes in the mall!!! That is simply not enough time so they don't listen properly. Speed is more important than precision. I quit for this reason. I wanted to do my best and ensure my customers were happy. Unfortunately I wasn't happy and neither was the owner of the Salon. I only cut hair for my family now, none of them will ever go to a Salon again. Too many bad experiences!!! Sorry for yours!!! For future reference it IS your RIGHT to refuse to pay if you are not happy!!!! Hope you didn't leave a tip!!!!!!!

yup, been there, done that!

apparently it must be some kind of hairdresser code, cause i asked for shoulder length and i too got just below the ears! what kills me is that after she cut one side of it she asks "how does that look?" ummm, you completely chopped off my hair and you cant undo it, but other than that it looks great  !

dont worry, it does grow back!

Awww!!

I seriously have nightmares about that. I'll wake up in tears after dreaming I had to cut my hair/was forced too/had an overzealous stylist.

I have had my share of those experiences -- including one where my hairdresser convinced me to try bangs. At the time, I had my hair about the same length as yours, all one length. So she cut it to a shorter bob (just under my ears -- it JUST touched my lobes) and gave me super short bangs. We're talking one -inch, maybe one and a half inch bangs. It looked like when a little kid tries to cut their own hair and they have to get it evened out.

Even worse? I was at a party a few weeks later, drunk, and stumbled, falling into somone's lit cigarette. So I had this lovely burn just above my the end of my eyebrow (towads my temple) that I couldn't even cover with bangs!

Don't worry, hon-- it'll grow back fast! And your hair looks beautiful. :)

Karo.. it looks so cute!

I had a too short cut one time, after that I learned to be more descriptive like "take 1 inch off" or "take 2 inches off". That way they don't chop it when I don't want it. I've never had hair shorter than just below my shoulders because I think I look like ####### with short hair... So I'd have freaked out just as you did!

Just remember: It looks really cute! (and if you really hate it, it will grow back!)
