So My hair was long. Down to my bra...long. Nice...but getting a little shaggy so I decided it was time for a hair cut.

I wanted to go to some cheap place like hair cuttery, but mom, trying to be nice, insisted, NO NO go to a nice place, I'll treat you for Easter.

Fine.

I get there, and I say.."Shoulder length, maybe a bit longer, Please.." As the scissors are posed over my hair, she goes, "Shoulder length, right?"

MY HAIR IS JUST BELOW MY FREAKING EARS. I am FREAKING OUT. I am not a short hair kind of girl - my face is too wide. OMG i cried for an hour and now here I am with horrible hair :(

THat said I'm starting to get over it, as my new mantra is, hair grows fast, hair grows fast...SIGH.

Just had to rant. SOrry. :(

That's horrible! Having had my share of bad-haircutter experiences, I understand your pain. (F)

On the upside, in my experience it takes about a week to get used to any haircut, and if it's halfway ok otherwise, you'll get used to it being too short. :)

Aww Karo sorry to hear that happened to you. I have had it happen in the past too. Keep positive and hopefully your hair will grow out and in better condition than before in a fast fashion.

ugh - what a nightmare for ya hun *hugs*

*remembers years ago when she asked for a shaggy perm and got a flippin afro and cried for days*

YES hair does grow fast! YES this will improve the condition of your hair heaps and also might make it grow thicker (very long hair pulls on the scalp and can cause thinning).

IF you go insane with it - there ARE hair extensions you could have - altho these are hideously expensive.

You will get used to the image in the mirror in a few days time I promise - but I know how upset you must be - especially as you were so proud of your hair :(

Did you complain to the hairdresser? Or think there was no point cos the hair is gone now and you can't get it back...understand totally if thats the case :(

Try and think of the sexy new looks you can do with your new shorter hair - I know its hard but you have to try and get SOME positive thoughts from it.

*HUGS*

Been there, done that. Know exactly how you feel. Awful.

I can only give you two good news.

Hair grows.

You´ll get used to it.

Now, when that happened to me, I went all Polyanna and decided to make the best out of it, I too have a wide face but I managed to either use the hair up in a little tail, or blow dry it to turn into a face frame and make things look better. In the end I sort of liked it, and after having long hair for years, last month I chopped it off above shoulder lenght again. Now I guess I´ll grow it out again. :P

damm dont ya just hate it when that happens *hugs*

I know I have to be very careful getting my hair cut as it is so curly and very deceptive for a hairdresser that is not familiar with curly hair....or doesn't care enough to take care. I remember a funny story when my sister was about 15 she went to the hairdressers for a perm. She had fairly long hair.......and she got a perm alright....she came out with her hair looking so short in an afro style hahahaha she almost died when she saw it and hibernated for months

I've been there too, but by experimenting with loads of different styles - tied up, blow-dryed outward, blow-dried under, scrunch dried, etc., I grew to love it! During the summer months it is kinda nice to have your hair shorter.

At least she has given you a GOOD cut. I have had so many BAD cuts, I question whether hair stylists just speak a different language!

I have my hair shorter now than I have in a long time, but it's so much quicker to dry and style now I don't think I will ever have it long again.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

If it's a good shortish cut, then you can definately mess around with wax and gel to come up with some funky styles. I've had my hair every possible length and it does take awhile to get used to a hair length. But it's great fun messing around with styles you can't do on long hair ;)

The good thing if you're growing it is...I've always found my hair grows faster in the summer...and you're in sunny Florida, so you should have your locks back in no time!!

Maybe she and I had the same hairdresser!! The exact same thing happened to me - about the same age as well! God I was MORTIFIED! Took AGES for the perm (my first ever) to fall out - I spent DAYS trying to condition it out to make it drop - it never did - looked GREAT once my hair had grown really long tho - but that took a while!

Never had another perm tho - *shudders*

yup, been there, done that!

apparently it must be some kind of hairdresser code, cause i asked for shoulder length and i too got just below the ears! what kills me is that after she cut one side of it she asks "how does that look?" ummm, you completely chopped off my hair and you cant undo it, but other than that it looks great  !

dont worry, it does grow back!

I aint cool enough for a signature.....
