Appt with Local Office RE: EAD

Has anyone recently had to have an appointment with their Local USCIS office after their EAD has been delayed?? I called USCIS yesterday and they said they only way to get my EAD application moved along was to make an appointment with my local office.

My appointment is on the 6th. My EAD is now in it's 13th week. I applied for my AOS at the same time as my EAD. Anyone with a similar story would be appreciated, as I am not sure what to expect when I go into my local office next week. Does anyone know if they will approve it on the spot??

Thanks & Happy Holidays!

If you do go to a infopass they will just put in a request. Local offices do not give the EAD stamp anymore nor can they approve it.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline

Take it from me and my recent experience.. don't waste your time going to the local office. Like the previous poster said they can only put in a request for you. We got the same advice from USCIS customer service and wound up driving 3.5 hours to the immigration office for nothing. Good luck.

Any advice on what to do if I decide to cancel my appt at the local office?? I need to start working ASAP for financial reasons (and my own sanity). If I call USCIS customer service they will probably give me the run around again and tell me to make an appt.

I might be mistaken, but I was under the impression that if 90 days have passed since the date on the NOA for the EAD, then someone at the local office can contact the office that processes them (Missouri?) to find out what the holdup is. If it's a straightforward application that hasn't been held up by something obvious like an RFE, the local office should be able to make an inquiry that would result in the EAD being issued promptly.

Thirteen weeks is just over 90 days. Has it been 90 days since the date on the NOA, or since you sent in the application? In our experience, the good folks at the local offices won't help you unless 90 days have passed since the NOA. In our case, the date was actually three weeks after we sent in the application.

Local offices haven't been able to issue interim EADs (iEADs) for a while now, but if your application is truly delayed by their criteria, they can make an inquiry on your behalf.

hi there,

I've also applied through Las Vegas office since last May and have not received my EAD yet!

I went for my AOS interview, and got approved for my greencard. However, when I asked the officer what's going on with my EAD, he couldn't answer the question. He suggested me to abandon the EAD and just wait for my GC which will arrive in 2 weeks time. But, oh well...what a waste $180 that I've spent!

So, if I were you, I would definitely call Infopass and set up an appointment, or just ignore it and wait for your greencard, like I did. Hope that helps.
