I'm filling out the I485 and i'm just confused on part 1 where it asks my family name. Do i put my maiden name that i was using on the K1 or do i put my new married name now??

Also, i'm confused about getting my social security number, can i apply for it now or do i have to wait til i get my EAD??

Please help

2007-02-15 - I-129F NOA1 received

2007-03-18 - Still nothing, not even touches :(

2007-07-29 - sent off packet 3,

2007-09-03 - sent first email to montreal

2007-09-24 - sent 2nd email to montreal

2007-09-25 - reply from montreal - interview Nov 5 8:30am

2007-11-15 - entered US

2007-11-20 got married

2008-01-13 - sent off package for EAD and I485

2008-01-22 - received NOA for EAD

If you took your husband's name, put your new married name as the family name.

Also, i'm confused about getting my social security number, can i apply for it now or do i have to wait til i get my EAD??

You can get your SSN now (it's better if it's been 14 days since you entered the US to make sure you're in the system). Read this.

If you want your married name on Green-Card then, use married name on the I-485 form part 1, you put maiden name in part 3 of the form under name on departure record I-94.

K-1 can apply for SSN any time up to 2 weeks before I-94 card expire, after that need EAD pr Green-Card to apply for SSN.
