i posted here before about a friend of my husband's that got married to a Turkish girl..i finaly convinced him that the tourist visa was not an option and to start steps to obtain the K-3 visa for his spouse. I went through the K-1 visa process so im a little confused on the K-3 process. First, I am wondering the difference between K-3 and CR-1. Also, I am wondering about the I-130 Package and what exactly they are requiring and the same for the I-129F Package. I am confused on which package needs to be sent when, and about how long it takes to approve each package. I want to make sure that the I-864 is indeed the correct Affidavit to send. Does the K-3 Visa require the same supporting evidence as the K-1, i.e.(pictures, letters, emails, tickets stubs, taxes and pay stubs, and so on...)?And one final question, when does his wife absolutely have to have her passport in her new last name?

im sorry i asked too many questions but we dont really understand the k3 guide and i know you people offer a lot of help here so please, if you can, help us too some...by telling us the steps of the process...

thank you !!! (F)

Have a look HERE to see the comparisons for each visa.

The guides very clearly show what is required to be sent along with each petition. The CR-1 guide is the first part of the K-3 process, so therefore the K-3 guide includes the steps required for I-130 (CR-1). In short, one must have an I-130 submitted for both the K-3 and CR-1. To go the K-3 route one must submit an I-129F with the NOA1 they will receive from the service center for the I-130 petition. No, the same evidence is not required as for the K-1. Proof of a bonafide relationship will be shown at interview stage.
