Perhaps you might put 2 + 2 together and realise that being rude, condescending and abrasive to people (which you did off that bat actually) doesn't exactly inspire people to be accommodating to you in return. But then again - you've said in previous threads that you don't care what anyone says on these forums, or indeed how your attitude is perceived by others, so why start now?

I pointed out your rudeness in an off the cuff comment. That has translated into pages of back and forth with you about... well... nothing. Except of course who has the most biting wit (if we can even aspire to call it that). I have to wonder why it is you're so angry about that - seeing as you keep proving post after post that I was essentially correct in my assessment, at least from my POV. Suggesting that its ok to wind someone up because you disagree with them is petty - and IMO, as the other poster has said, makes you something of a bully.

Its all irrelevant at the end of the day - but I just wonder why a 54 year old woman can't display a level of interpersonal civility beyond that of a 6-year old. Moreover, it shouldn't be necessary to point this out - or that you don't serve whatever on-topic arguments you are making by insulting people. Which again - you did off the bat. All I've done is point that out.

If you are intent on proper civil discourse, try being a model of it and staying above the fray. As has been pointed out, you first post was a shot at me. Is that your idea of civil discourse?

The bottom line is, a thread that begins with a hit piece prompts negative commentary and sets a tone of embattled discourse. Reading over the first few contributions is enough to see that.

You make a comment, They make a verbal slight of hand comment to distract you and then bait you into engaging on a totally different subject all the while trying to make you look like a bad person, and them trying to look morally superior. IMHO, you often do. The only person you can control is yourself. Because we have no other stimuli to evaluate, the tone fo the postings are exaggerated. I accept this and do not waste time postulating on the tone of others. That's way too subjective, and rarely acknowledged by the accused party.

In that we seem to agree, unless I am much mistaken. Your beef is with that I haven't addressed your subsequent posts. Well the reason for that is really quite simple. I'm merely interested in the OP article, not the tangential side-issues.

Thanks, Marc! I have pointed this out in earlier posts. It is a well-known tactic in board debate. The argument toward me fell apart pages ago, so the only thing left is to try to discredit me as a person. Saw that coming from miles away.

Guess what? Gross generalizations about my position have been aimmed at me too, and they are used as red herrings to escape the obvious - that there are few who have really thought out their positions. If they were solid in their ability to discuss the topic without reserting to character assassination to halt the debate, they wouldn't fall back on that.

Before you get too carried away about that, it rather helps to understand who it is who is actually agreeing with you, certainly before you accept their endorsement.
