Does anyone know if they will except a tax return receipt as opposed to a copy of the return? The copy takes 60 days and costs about $80.

Not sure about your consulate, but we ordered the free tax transcripts from the IRS and that's taken us through the visa and the green card with no questions.

DITTO!

Call 1 800 - 829 1040 24/7 for tax transcripts. Free and took me 7 days snail mail to get them.

You can also have them faxed if you are in a hurry. Google Tax transcripts faxed IRS.

They are more valid the ITRs and W2s.

Mail receipt helps but you have to have the 1040 and W2s to back it up.

The consulates, and what they ask for, vary. Our documents have already been "checked" so we know our package is complete and pre-approved (in Jakarta). This is what they wanted:

2006 Copy of tax return

2006 W2

Recently dated latter from my employer, with employer's name, my title, whether I am perm/temp, and salary, signed in ink

Recent pay stub, showing YTD earnings

Statement from my bank, original signature, showing summary last year deposits

In OUR case, we also included employer benefits summary, since we are married and she is on my health insurance

Not all embassies are the same.

Regards,

David and Nitadyah
