If you work in the city and plan on saving money, move to the burbs and accept a long commute. The wealthy have the option of living closer and walking to work, the middle class really doesn't. JMHO.

Can we just move to Brooklyn or Queens? That's our plan for next year. I almost rented in Queens this year but I thought it was better to be near school, and it definitely has been a huge advantage, but I think we could shave off about $500 of the rent and still live in a nice place in Bk. I haven't given up hope for at least semi-urban living. I should just stop kvetching anyway. It's a great opportunity to be here and I'm just being way too Jewy and worrying about saving money all the time.

eta: g'night. sleep sounds good. I'm waiting for the caffeine I drank at noon to wear off.

Yeah the outer boroughs are fine. Just watch what neighnborhood, it can get shady, esp in BK.

And your Jewiness is actually a really good quality IMO.
