Packet 3 (London) Questions

Hello Everyone

I have had a search and I cant find the specifics I am looking for, I wonder if anyone could help me with a couple of questions.

I received my Packet 3 from the US Embassy in London and I am filling in all the forms online as it says. (mind you it looks like there is a problem with the DS-156K as it wont let me type in the fields so I have printed that one out and filled it in by hand)

I have completed

DS-230 Part 1 1 copy, only pages 1&2 and signed it

DS-156 2 copies NOT signed

DS-156K 1 copy NOT signed

DS-157 ????

The wording under "Step One" on the IV15 checklist document seems ambiguous to me, do I need to complete the DS-157, because it goes on about applicants from China, Iran, Libya etc etc (I'm British)

Question 1: Do I need to send back the DS-157 ???

I am still awaiting my police form back from the Met, the 40 days are up week commencing 10 Dec 07.

Question 2: Would it be OK to send back my IV15 and my completed documents now even though I don't actually have the police form ??

I have everything else, I have also booked my medical for next week as I now have my LND case number.

I'm pretty sure they wont call me for interview before the police report actually arrives and I want to get this all back to them before the Christmas silly season and shutdown starts.

Last one.... what evidence do I need to take with me to show financial support ???

My Fiancée has completed the I-134 and has a letter from her employer which I will be taking, do I need to take anything showing my finances? If so, what???

I know there is a few questions there, but like everyone else on here I just want to go prepared and make sure nothing causes a delay, we've all waited so long....

Thanks in advance

James.

Hi James,

I would complete the DS-157. It states that all males 16 to 45 should complete and return this form with the rest of the package.

If you think you will receive your Police Certificate in time for your interview, then i would go ahead and send your check-list back. The chances of getting an interview in the next couple of weeks are slim with christmas coming up. My interview over a year ago took about 4 weeks from the time i sent back my checklist, so i think you should be ok.

can anyone else comment on how long its taking London to send out interview dates?

Evidence required for your interview - Completed notarized I-134, letter from your fiance's employer stating present salary and how long she has worked for that employer. 2006 tax return with W2's or (1099's if self-employed).

You don't need to take anything showing your finances, just your fiance's income.

I'm sure someone else will drop by to comment if i've got anything wrong.

Hope this helps :)

Separated!!

Your fiancee could send IRS transcripts instead of tax returns as they are free to request from the IRS.

17th March 2010 - Started the removal of conditions process

22nd March 2010 - Application received by CSC

30th April 2010 - Biometrics appointment

How many years does London request? I ordered tax transcript for the last 2 years but they couldn't access my 2004 return. Does anybody know if the last 2 years will be sufficient?

I too feel as though the instructions in the packet 3 are slightly ambiguous, upon reading through my own!

What exactly do i send back at this stage? (just received the Packet3 yesterday but have all the relevant documents from my USC Fiancee) I thought it would be just the first 4 sides of paper that have the checklist and the part for you to sign and complete at the bottom of page 4.

Is there anything else that needs to be sent in to the embassy now?

Thanks

You need to send in the first 4 pages (checklist) plus any forms that they ask for. You can dowload those mentioned from here http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/ . Those are the most up-to-date versions that I have found.
