Whoa - you're right about the grinding: http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/store/coffee/blends

*they* don't even do it. I'm shocked.

( but he's right. Even espresso grinds are too "grainy" to be correct. )

I don't know if they do this in Egypt - but they do in Jordan. Grab some cardamom beans (whole) - they go in the pot.

The moral of my story: Stick with someone who matches your own culture.

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

You can also try Droubi's Bakery and Deli. The have more than one location and have a nice grocery section.

Here's the link to the CitySearch page that has their phone # and address. You can just ask someone who works there to show you where the coffee is and which is appropriate.

Phoenecia has the Turkish coffee (as far as I can tell). There is a light and a dark so find out which one he likes best. They are 2 distinct different flavors. Good luck.

OH, and you can also try Adams on Westheimer. There is also a place called Jerusalem (or something like that) and they might have it. It is also on Westheimer.
