Yup peepz, pappa in law phoned last night to let me know that... I will SO transcribe the conversation since it made my night and I can't wait for IR5 to say something snappy about it ;)

Pappa: "Heya Leninaaaa [insert harsh Texan accent from the guy who moved to Mercer Island about 35 years ago - hilarity ensues :D ] you got somethin' from Mesquite, Texas".

Lenina: From MeZquite (with my Spanish pronunciation)

P: NO Lenina, it's 'Mesqueet' dear girlll

L: Ok pappa, Meskeetee, would you open it for me please?

P: Sure thang

[pause]

P: Well, doesn't it have the prettiest picture of someone I think the world of...

L: [shite :o , he got the nuddie pics for Bren's anniversary gift :o ]... aha......

P: But it's not green daughtah, not green AHT ALL.

L: aha.... [as in OK SAY IT ALREADY]

P: seems you got yourself your green-not-green card Lenina, we are all so very proud of you and we love you much daughtah. Not that you needed this thang for the love thang.

L: Love you too pappa, see you tomorrow.

After that, I cried like a b!tch. Not so much for the greencard (who turns out is freakin yellow pappa says), but because my inlaws are, indeed, fabulous folks. And yup, they love me and I love them back. How couldn't I? They gave me their firstborn, potty-trained and all. LOVE people, is a beautiful "thang".

Peace, L.

Congrats! Great news!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
