Venture in Business is good for you my friend... Apply for Dual Citizenship so you gain Filipino Citizenship and also not loose your American Status.

As for gaining Filipino Citizenship.. You can venture in types of businesses and buy lands as well..

Some businesses I can suggest you are..

Resort (Pool or Beach) It doesn't matter.. Filipinos like FUN!!

Franchise a Fast Food Chain Like Jollibee or Mc Donald's..

Sports Bar.. I don't know about this, But I don't see any in the Philippines.

Good Luck!!

sorry to correct you again, but he cant be a philippines citizen. they dont allow it. the best he can do is become a permanent resident and it is so expensive to do that no one does it. he can have a business but he cant own the major share. his wife will have to own 60% of it. Also he cant own land there, but his wife can. so theres no such thing as the USC having dual citizenship with the phils. the phils have very exact rules on what a foreigner can and cant do or own etc. he can setup a business and have it in his wife's name. his best bet is to open up a internet cafe. there are a number of websites that are for US citizens living in the phils that he can search out and they will give him great info and help him out. Dual Citizenship is only allowed with natural born filipinos who have citizenship with another country. they dont allow foreigners to have citizenship.

here is an earlier post on the subject .

VJ topic, foreign citizenship in philippines

you both might want to read this other thread and the posts there and links in the topic.

Under Section 13 of the PIA, immigrants may be categorized as "quota immigrants" and "non-quota immigrants". There may be admitted quota immigrants not more than 50 in number of any one nationality for any calendar year. The non-quota immigrant, however, may be admitted without regard to said numerical limitation such as:

a. The wife or husband or the unmarried child under 21 years old of a Philippine citizen, if accompanying or following to join such citizen;

There are several Yahoo expats groups you could join. Most members are very helpful.

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/cebucitytoday/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expats-in-Cagayan-de-Oro/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Philippine_L...sland_Paradise/

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Retiring-To-Philippines/

I am partial to the CDO group because my wife is from there and I have spend a lot of time there but Cebu is also a nice city. I loved Dumaguete too but can't find an expats group for it.

Good luck

here is the entire page you are quoting from, but i have yet to even read of anyone who became a philippines citizen from the USA while going there to live and retire with their filipina wife. everyone typically uses the Balikabayan Visa and stays for a year at a time, leaving for a weekend to hong kong etc and then coming back. maybe its because they only give 50 out each year?

and yes you can marry in the PI. its not a problem at all. click on those links larry in the other topic i linked to. there are alot of usergroups of guys who live there now permanently doing what you are planing to do.

Formulate your questions and then join either the living in paradise group, the CDO group or both. I seem to get a lot of good info from both.

Check out the province and island you are planning to move to for safety for puti and medical facilities.

"Most" of Mindanao isn't looking to good at this time and the violence there is escalating.

Depends on the province tho.

USEM is advising Americans to leave especially in the South Cotobato area.

What island and province are you intending to move to?

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

What happens when we marry in Pi? Can we marry ?

Yes, you can marry in the Phils. You must get your Affidavit of legal capacity to marry at the USEM, then apply for a Marriage Certificate at the Civil Registry where your wife resides. After you apply for the Marriage Certificate you must wait 10 working days before you can get married.

I applaud your decision.
