there isnt any garentee that they are even working on these cases and not just letting them sit while they process the newest cases and letting these so called terrorists in the country even longer. the system is broken and it needs fixed.

my husband has been stuck 3 years now and should be filing for citizenship now instead of paying these outragous fees for AP and EAD and sitting and waiting. he now has to wait another 3+ years for citizenship. before u know it he will be in the country a very long time before he becomes a citizen....long enough to attack the united states if he were one of these terriosts they claim they are protecting us against. lets see...hes already been here 4 years...yep...enough time to attack the united states if he wanted to.

This doesn't seem like a credible news to me... Can you provide the EXACT link to the article or document on those websites... I couldn't find anything relevant to name chak on those sites.

Also I googled to find out if there was something on that front... NOTHING nada...please correct me if I am wrong.

Ah but you are flawed in that logic per the USCIS, that is your view even if incorrect in the eyes of USCIS, for the illegal immigrants will eventually want to come out of the shadows and Adjust status, thus when they do the background check is there for that purpose, and have you ever heard of sleeper cells for terrorists? You should know, England has had a fair share of them just biding their time until the time was right then attacking your subways, these checks are necessary at every step of the process unfortunately in this day and age, the problem is there just needs to be more money given to USCIS and FBI to enable more timely processing and more staff help to work cases. Please share those comments with the US Dept of Homeland of Security and see what they tell you, the threat and danger are real, a clear and present danger to the USA, whether someone from another country likes it or not or how the USA immigration works.

None of the terrorists associated with British attacks have been immigrants. They were ALL British born citizens.

Just yesterday I saw on the news a kid who went on a rampage on a Nebraska mall, it's not just immigrants who are terrorist anymore. Why is it that the media is not calling that kid a terrorist? Help me out here, is the word terrorist just used on immigrants? I'm an American Citizen and it's sad that for "our protection" according to the US immigration, we should expect most immigrants to be terrorist/sleeper agents. Still, it is how it is but the issue here is, if we really believe that waiting 3 years helps prevent terrorist attacks.

I thought I had read something a couple of years ago that the FBI has to have the name check completed within 120 days. Guess that idea didn't work out

Would you like to tell me how the Department of Homeland Security is protecting me from the clear and present danger of sleeper terrorists by taking years to check their background, meanwhile allowing them to legally work and live here?

It is necessary and needed, because it protects the USA from illegal immigrants and terrorists, it is a matter of priorities by the executive branch of USA government, the tax dollars are there but have been diverted to other areas instead of to the USCIS and FBI to upgrade or hire additional staff to handle the processing of these marriage visas, once again it all starts at the top(White House), look no further.

In no way does it stop illegal immigration or protect the US from terrorists...... this check is done at AOS level so they are already in the US.... all it does is hold up someone greencard.... I dont think a terrorist is going to wait until he/she has a greencard before attacking the US.... and as far as illegal immigrants they can not do ASO, so they will not undergo FBI name check....

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for logic and reason out of this one. Kez is absolutely correct. These are people who are already in the country legally, and it's not as though possessing the greencard is going to give someone magical terrorist powers.

Dept of Homeland Security and FBI are doing the best job they can with the appropriated funds by this current administration, that have been made available to them, the solution is for President and Congress to raise our taxes, or increase the fees for filing for AOS once again, thus they could hire and train additional staff to handle these caseloads from all these AOS filers along with slow down the number of filers giving them more time to work the existing cases, it is supply and demand folks, there is a demand that is greater than the supply that is offered, thus a backlog or bottleneck of applications. AND you people have a short memory about 9/11/01, it happened once it could happen again, no one wants that to occur, thus you and I have all been subjected to this intense and extra scrunity of the FBI along with Dept of Homeland Security, and in conclusion, face up to reality, there are going to be continued background checks and they are not going away anytime soon, matter of fact it may soon get worse.

Explain to me how delaying the green card of someone already in the country prevents another 9/11.

It does nothing to stop terrorism.... if that was the object then the full FBI name check should be done before anyone ever get to enter the USA.. whether they come on a K1, K3, CR1, IR1, tourist visa, work visa, greencard lottery, VWP and all the many many other sorts of visa's available....

Would be interesting to see what would happen to the tourist industry in the US if they did that... never mind the 10000's who come here to work and study...

Well that is your opinion on stopping terrorism and it may not suit you or be perfect, but it is what it is, which you are entitled to y our opinion(we do allow free speech in the USA unlike in other countries), and I am quite sure the USA would do quite well and adjust fine to any tourist industry or work or student concerns which the USA always does adjust and come out doing well.
