Does anyone know if the POE at the Peace Arch stamps the EAD?

We've been looking at P possibly flying into Vancouver and me picking him up there. It's only about 2 hours from here.

But we would like him to get the EAD stamp....

Don't think an EAD stamp is needed anymore - from recent rumors only the I-94 is proof enough. I'm not familiar with the new procedures though, just seen it around the boards.

Ach! Thanks for the answers. I tried to search too and didn't find anything.

It would be great if the I 94 is all that's needed.

Okay, I found it:

The List A document entitled, ‘‘unexpired foreign passport with an attached Form I–94 indicating unexpired employment authorization,’’ has been replaced by ‘‘an unexpired foreign passport with an unexpired Arrival-Departure Record, Form I–94, bearing the same name as the passport and containing an endorsement of the alien’s nonimmigrant status, if that status authorizes the alien to work for the employer.’’

Essentially, an unexpired I-94 with your passport should suffice. Problem is, whether the employer will be comfortable with just that is another thing :P

And now for the really important questions, Jun. Has anyone commented on your Honourary Pass and did they make the biometrics connection?

Hey, I was going to comment on it!

Jun, two things to consider if you want to come in through Vancouver: (1) the lines to cross the border are stupidly long because Canadian stores have not lowered their prices to reflect the fact that the Canadian petrodollar is above parity with the US peso, and (2) he might not be allowed to enter Canada on a one-way ticket with enough luggage that he is clearly moving. I did this without even thinking about it when I moved home from Europe--I flew into Vancouver on a one-way ticket from Warsaw carrying two suitcases that were both quite close to the 32-kg limit KLM had to avoid overload--but that was pre-9/11 and it was probably pretty stupid even then. It might not be a big deal--maybe he needs a transit visa to go through Canada or a round trip ticket he will only use part of--but you should check into it first.

I almost said the Canadian dollor is above "parody" instead of "parity".....

I would think the K-1 visa would be enough to explain to a Canada border guard why you're there. I'm not sure, but I think you get your baggage after you go through customs. I know you do when you fly through Calgary.

Ok, so I'm bumping this thread. These are great suggestions and I'm wondering if anyone else has had an experience coming from a country outside Canada, flying into Vancouver, to cross the border into the US. We've found tickets that are about 300 Euro cheaper if he flies into Vancouver first but I don't want to cause extra problems.

Of course, his interview isn't until tomorrow and it may be a moot point :)

What about giving Vancouver Airport a call and asking them directly?

Smart woman :) I'll do that and then post the answer in case anyone else has this question.
