Does anyone know if you can combine house hold income with another on the affidavit of support. I'm renting a house with a room mate that is willing to combine there income with mine to make poverty guidelines. Can this be done? the answers would be very much thankful.

I honestly dont think this can be done....unless it was like a family member or the owner of the house..Not sure though but thats what i think...Simply because he is just a roomate....its not something stable.

For I-864 affidavit of support used for CR-1 IR-1 or AOS, you can have household member provide I-864A to add income to primary sponsor. "Household member" MUST be related to the sponsor.

You can use roommate as Joint Sponsor (Files I-864 also), but roommate needs to exceed povertyline by them self, if not then seek a Joint-sponsor like a parent or relative.

The roommate is my mother. We decided it would be best to combine income together to help get my wife here without any question of a co-sponsor. So if me and my mother are living together we can combine our income then it sounds? Thank you for your quick answer.

In you case you can useI-864 and I-864A, you the primary sponsor must fill out I-864, and mother can fill out I-864A

Your roommate can be the Joint sponsor and needs to file a separate I-864. Joint sponsor + dependent of Joint sponsor + future immigrant. say, if this comes out 3 then the joint sponsor's income should be atleast $21462 (2008 poverty guidelines). I don't think a roommate can be a household member.
