I have been in Melbourne, AUS for the last week or so and been catching up on what has been happening here since I was gone. Surprise surprise I hear there is a growing problem with African immigrants from Sudan. From violence to vandalism, with a a complete disrespect for the law and the police. Loitering and simply chilling in public places, in groups, is also becoming a nuisance. I thought this sounds very very familiar. This sounds exactly like the ghettos in the Unites States. Which then reminded me of comments made a while back on VJ where they blamed this sort of behavior, in the United States, not on culture but on slavery and oppression. Australia has nothing to do with Sudan. Therefore in this case those stereotypical American clichés cannot be used. Consequently visas from various African nations have been restricted due to the ongoing cultural problems.
