Romney on Abortion - Smart or stupid?

I was watching a rerun of the GOP YouTube debate last night and this response by Romney struck me as odd and/or downright idiotic. What do you think, smart or stupid? Oh and accept my apologies for blatantly plagiarizing the subject of another VJ thread

The question asked was would you sign a federal ban on all abortions? Now, all abortions, to me, means including those down outo f medical necessity or as a result of rape, incest etc.

Rudy, rightly, said hell no I wouldn't.

Romney said he'd be "delighted" to. Did he screw up? I think he did.

I don't know, but it seemed Romney was a little flustered last night. He didn't want to answer some questions or would say a weird answer. I really don't know which of them I like or will vote for. I am lost.

Romney appears flustered because he's changed positions on so many things so many times he probably needs to remember what his position is today.

I see him as the Hillary of the GOP - the one person I absolutely won't vote for.

I caught small bits of it this morning on CNN hopefully I can catch it later today. I'm definaltey pro choice...but for someone who is not I would say that banning ALL abortions is crazy

What I liked about Rudy was that he wasn't pandering to the base. He said he wouldn't sign a ban on all abortions, he refused to go 'red meat conservative' on illegal immigrants, he said the line item veto is unconstitutional and he defended mandatory criminal/mental health background checks for prospective gun owners. He got booed a lot and he seemed to not mind.

Yeah, it's rare for politicians these days to have a position on an issue without first looking at the polls.

Mitt's bid, if it ever had any actual merit, is dead.
