Well it finally happend. I didn't think I was capable of such an act, but I'm having a love affair with my new cuisinart. ssshhhhhhh Don't tell Kitchenaid.

My dad pulled out a brand new cuisinart food processor when I said I need to go buy a shredder attachement for the Kitchenaid mixer to shred 2 lbs of potatoes for these latkas I'm making. took me awhile to get it put together, but once I did....whoa baby!! Shredded all those potatoes in 3 minutes. Would have taken me half an hour on a hand grater. :crying: And then the onion and shallots?? no way.

OK back to cheffing.

Objectofile!

Do you lovingly caress these appliances as you pass through the kitchen? Have you replaced the wedding photo on the mantle with one of yourself kissing the food processor? Do you find yourself digging change out of the sofa to buy new attachments for the cuisinart? What would the neighbors say? Tsk, tsk. Me maggiecakes is cheating on the Knifty Knitter ;)

Hi Olivia,

I just read your post and I have family in Jordan (cousins) they can travel to other countries but some ME countries require visa's that take a longer process. It all depends on the country. So when I visit them, we plan our travels first. Egypt and Syria were cake to visit with them and they could come and go and Saudi too...however Lebanon and Qatar were not as easy!

In Egypt, my brother in law has traveled to Spain however, to even meet me in Jordan they would need to have someone "invite" them and the process is longer. So its a silly crazy process. Egypt seems to make it up as they go in my opinion. 3 of his friends were able to travel and one was not allowed all had the same paperwork and for the same "planned" trip. So my experience is that it depends on the person from the ME who is looking to travel and their history (i.e., university, work, military status, etc). Hope that helps and is not just more confusing! LOOL

Wishing you the best of luck on travels and a beautiful week!

Salaam Sweets!!

I spent way to many hours in the computer lab today going threw the VJ portal looking at member profiles in MENA reading ancient threads, looking at old pix, seeing what people put out there, wondering why some people don't post when they're obviously active, and thinking about a lot of stuff.

Morocco has like 30 pages of profiles while Egypt has 14 and some North African countries have just a page dedicated to them.

There is so much information on VJ.

Everyone is so different and so unique and yet having these similarities.

I was thinking mostly about traveling to these places and wondering if my Husband would be able to travel with me to some of them as easily as I could.

Has anyone in MENA traveled to another MENA country besides the one their SO is from?

Has your SO traveled with you to these other places and how was it for them to be able to do this?

Just curious. Have a great Thursday everybody!

Olivia

AND... I got a cool bourbon praline donut recipe from foodnetwork tonight. Got everything here but the buttermilk and bourbon. Think I'll buy the big bottle this time...much more cost effective. I'm working from home tomorrow so guess what will fill breaktime?

I don’t post very much because I haven’t been able to find another member of VJ that’s in the same situation as ours. I don’t mind giving others advise about the early stages of the visa process or suggestions.

I wish all a successful visa journey!
