hey!

thank you again for all the useful information. now i got another important question: me and my husband will go to germany next week, and we finally have the money to file for i-130, but there' s no way for us to get all the documents together before we leave. so i thought we' ll just mail everything from germany. now i read on the uscis-homepage under "faq" that the petitioner has to file the form at the local uscis office in person. is that true? is there anybody who just downloaded i-130, filled it out and sent it?

another question: do the copies (marriage & birth certificates etc) have to be certified? or is it okay to send regular copies?

thank you for your help!

Unless you are actually residing in Germany and filing the petition with the Consulate in Frankfurt, you will mail your petition. All the information you need for mailing is in the I-130 instructions. Be sure you have the latest version from the USCIS website.
