Ok so the weirdest thing happened to me

Dunno how the hell it happened either!

One minute....I'm inside a store...whinging over the price of this phone I bought...the salesguy says something about me bitching about something silly when I got such a nice ring on my finger....I look at the ring & very cheekily say 'yeah my baby done good'

An hour later, I look at my finger.....the mount is completely bent! And unwearable!

#######?!? Isnt' platinum like uberstrong? How the hell could I have done something like this & not notice it?

I will only go to one jewler...someone my father's dealt with for like ages...but he's been so busy (to him, this is like peanuts or something) so he's been putting me off for TWO MONTHS!

Gettin it fixed tomorrow!

Platinum is a natural precious metal, it can bend. I believe you are thinking of titanium, which is very light, and very strong (though still can be broken), a man made composite metal.

Maybe I am...but isn't platinum at least stronger than gold?

And I still dunno what the hell I did to do that....one would think I'd feel a knock that hard.

Yeah, stronger than gold it is... am trying to see... fif you bend it on the weld? cause if you did... might explain part (pic kinda wrong angle to tell).

It is repareable... I had to fix the one I got .... band bent to all hell...

honestly? I have banged my ring outa shape already without noticing... just the right moment at the right angle (or wrong.. depending on outlook)

any jeweler should be able to fix easily enough.

A little better angle yes, are the prongs, where they meet the band, are they formed from the bands metal? or look like they are attached?

Edit to add: Also, might have reached into a purse or something and just hooked the stone a little... shouldn't be more than an hours work at the jeweler.

But lemme say this....I tried pushing it back, lol, and it is like not moving at all.

Still freaks me out cos one would think one would notice something strong enuff to do this damage. And I wouldnt' be so freaked out if I hadnt specifically looked at it like an hour before (or even less)

Im not too familiar with platinum but if it's like gold, where there's different carats for each ring, then here is my theory.. I have rings that are pure gold (24k), and i know that the closer you get to 24k, the more maleable it will be (you can bend it more easily). So if platinum also has carats, how many carats is your ring? Maybe because it was very close to the "real" thing and that's why it got bent?

Oh btw, call me silly but i believe in the evil eye. Maybe that's what happened to your ring?

Nina, I have no clue if platinum comes in carats...I'll ask the dude tomorrow...

...as far as the evil eye...I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN THAT!!!

And here's something else I just discovered...cos I gained weight from not smoking, the ####### thing doesn't fit without me lickin my finger first....and even then it's too tight to wear :(:(:(
