Hello all-I haven't posted too much lately because of nothing new to report on my AOS. My DO is Washington DC (which is 1 year behind on AOS). My filing date is Dec. 19 2006. I am pretty sure that they must be close to that date by now. I am freaking a little bit as I still have not yet received an interview notice. I changed my address with USCIS 6 months ago and got the letter from them updating my address-but part of me is worried a letter might have been sent to my old address. Another idea is that I had to send in more evidence to USCIS in Jan. 07 which they recvd Jan. 23. Do you think that my processing date is Jan. 23 as opposed to Dec. 19? I sent in my EAD renewal last week and am freaking about that because of their major receipting delays! I just really, really wish this process would move-I know many of you have been waiting too, but 1year+ is just ridiculous!!!

I guess I could call the National Service Center. any insights would be appreciated.

Schedule an Infopass and make sure you write down the name of the officer and the date when they fist got the form. One question, did you sent the AR-11 or I-865? we are currently going through a Motion to Reopen since we moved and sent the form but they kept send it us letter both to the new address and the old address.

Those are the link to my post. We even went to 2 infopass and they kept telling us that there is nothing wrong with the case, that it was just being process. Don't let what happened to us happen to you. Good Luck

During the K1 process I changed my address, within 2 weeks I got a notice (sent to the new address) that USCIS changed it. Then two months later they sent an RFE to the OLD address! Luckily my old roommates gave me the notice. So, my own experience says don't trust them, keep on thier backs checking up! Has the case status changed online? Yes, call them AND make an Infopass appointment IMMEDIATELY! Good luck!

There are so many stories of documents not reaching the new address, I would not count on the AR-11. For those that have moved during the immigration process, why not start sending change of address form to USPS, say once a month, to ensure that mail does in fact get forwarded to you?

You will still need to send them the address change notice forms. AR-11 for the immigrant, and I-865 for the spouse/sponsor. And then follow up to make sure it gets done. There are possible fines and jail time as consequence if you do not both change your address within the specified timeframe.

Yes, if someone is living at the address and receiving mail, the USCIS mail will arrive there.

I read on the USCIS that you have to change your address as sponsor if you have filed the I-864. I took it to mean that a K-1 filer, having filed the I-134, does not have to do the change of address thing. Am I wrong?

USPS is not supposed to forward official mail from the government or similar (like USCIS). There are cases where they do, but as standard they are not supposed to. It would normally just get returned to sender.

thanks for all the responses. I did all the address change stuff according to USCIS rules; I got the letter and I also called 2 weeks after that to make sure the update was done. I called customer service yesterday and the lady told me emphatically that the letter would not go to the old address-despite me saying many people have gotten letters at their old address! she said since I am still 2 weeks before I will be out of processing time to call back in 2 weeks to set up an inquiry. I would do an infopass but it is 3 hours to the closest office! I will be calling my old landlord today about any of our mail to check because nothing from the gov't will be forwarded like the rest of our mail.

also forgot to mention-I haven't been able to check my status on-line because I forgot to do a new password and it expired. I can't reset my password because now I can't remember what my security question was. any ideas to fix that?

The USCIS phone line and even Infopass appointments are notoriously known to convey no useful info, it's so frustrating! And nearest office 3 hours away - what a nightmare! :crying: Good about contacting your old landlord. If something comes to your address would he forward it to you himself?

I'm not sure about how to reactivate your USCIS account. I had trouble too, but somehow got it up again. Did you try everything possible to get it up online? Are there any instructions say, to call someone about it or attempt to answer the security question? Or send instructions via your email address? I hope you can somehow get it up again!
