Gosh darn it anyway, we just found out that we do need our previous marriage certs for the Vancouver consulate, now I have to scamble to send for them from NB! I haven't recieved packet 3 yet but expect within the next week or so at least I hope MTL had to transferr our case to Vancouver because NVC sent it to MTL by mistake.

So much time has been wasted I was really oping to home for X-mas but it's not lookin good Had NVC done it right I likely wopuld have already recieved packet 3 from Vancouver we lost about 3 weeks because of all this!

I don't think it will take to long to get my previous marriage certs, faxing application tomorrow and they will be sent to by couier so not really worried about that, but does anyone know for sure if my SO has to have his ( he is the USC), our lawyer says he does? We already have our divorce decrees.

Any info from somone who has resently gone through Vancouver? Does Vancouver ask for the previous marriage certs along with the divorce decrees? would be greatly appreciated for sure.? Have forgot anything else?

I know I haven'e posted alot on here but I really do appreciate all the info that I've gotten from all of you!!

Just as an FYI - especially for those who haven't thought of this (or the need for the marriage cert. <grin>)

ESPECIALLY for the female - the marriage certificate (along with the divorce decree - which is needed by BOTH parties)... helps to show the chain of name changes (eg: from birth, marriage, divorce back to maiden name if appropriate)..

Honestly folks... if in doubt... GET IT ANYWAY... better to be safe than sorry (and that goes both for the USC and the O/S beneficiary) I would MUCH prefer to have MORE paperwork in front of them than not enough and get an RFE for it - kwim?

have a GREAT day

I just never heard any embassy require a marriage certificate from a previous marriage and it still doesn't make any sense to me. Is this something new?
