My husband had to get a police certificate from Italy when he was living in Morocco. I believe that the process varies from country to country, but I was able to send a form and payment through the mail and they sent me back the certificate. You might want to post your question in the Europe forum where those who went through Germany would see it and be able to give you specific details.

Yes. Any person (from any country) who is applying for immigrant visa to the US has to provide police clearance from places where they lived for more than 6 months. It's the rule.

Do a internet search for the city council/local government/police department of the town you lived in when you were in Germany. Maybe they have a telephone number and you can call them and explain your situation.

Police in many countries often have to provide this service.

My fiance needed one from France. It shouldn't be hard to get one from Germany.

For us it was a little complicated bc the consulate in Cairo wouldn't give him any information and told him he would have to go back to France to get it..... I got really POed and went to the French consulate here in Miami and asked simply how I would go about getting a police certificate from my residency there. They handed me a form, which I found online as well once I knew what it was called. We just sent it in with a copy of his passport and he received it 2 weeks later
