Last year, I was living in Russia. We bought our tree for 100 Rubles (a little over 3 USD at last year's exchange rate.) We didn't take it down until Valentine's!

Is it okay if I grab a person off of the street, kill them, and prop them up in my living room? Why not? I like trees more than I like people....

I don't really like people either - so yeah, it's ok. Solves the overpopulation problem.

Are you an introvert?

We went to the nursery yesterday and picked out our tree. The grand total for the tree, the flocking and the delivery was $225.00. I was stunned by the price. It is either getting delivered this Tuesday or Wednesday.

I grew up with always having an artificial tree. Personally I prefer a fake tree.

I always use to have a real tree, about a 10 footer......loved it. But now since we have no means to get a real tree, no way to fit that in the car!!!! We have a cute artifical tree, with pinecones and berries on it. I found it at a speciality shop.

The tree is here and decorated. I will work on getting some pictures up. Our camera has been acting up and I think it's time for a new one.

When Mel took out all the decorations, there was a few price tags in the box from previous trees he has bought. Last year he actually paid a bit more than this year.

I think it is a waste of money myself, but Mel is set in his ways.

We have always gotten ours from the boy scout troop that my brother used to belong to when he was little. I think this year we got a 6-8 ft. fir and it cost about $70.

What about you guys?

californians get hosed for christmas trees. we went to a cut-your-own christmas tree farm in damascus and wandered around aimlessly in the cold for 45 minutes before deciding on one that was growing about 2 feet from where we parked the car. it's over 7 feet, and only cost $35. they gave us hot chocolate and cookies too :)

I got my tree for $10 off of craigslist last year... looked pretty good too! I used to want a real tree, but they do make a mess, they can be pretty expensive, and it seems silly to cut down a tree that took years to grow just for one month of Christmas time... We always had a fake one growing up.

Thanks to you! We got a christmas tree from Craigslist yesterday for 20$ :D

6 ft with white lights in it.

Hubby and his family always had a natural tree, while I've always had a fake. He doesn't like the look of a fake, but I don't like the mess of a natural and to have to buy one every year....Anyhow, we are in an appartment right now with 2 young cats, so that's why we got a fake. Hubby is sad but I'll make sure it looks pretty :D

I only use fake trees, I have NO use for real trees. So we bought it at Walmart and it should last us a few years :D 80 for a 7.5 foot behemoth.

My animals eat the tree, my house smells like pine which...I don't want my house to smell like the woods, it interferes with my candle burning ;), and needles get EVERYWHERE. Plus, in Florida, it's so pointless to have a real tree since you're buying it at Lowes or Publix anyway - if I lived up north, a real tree would make some modicum of sense, but again, not much. Not to mention the fact it's pretty selfish, with the environmental problems that already exist, to chop down millions of trees for a few weeks of self-gratification.

Besides, fake trees are easier to nail to the ceiling.
