When do you put up your tree/decorations?

I've always put up the tree and such the day after Thanksgiving. The tree and decorations are the only part of Xmas/Yule that I really like. Presents are ok, but aren't the main thing for me. There's no religious significance for me, either. Ergo, the tree and lights and baubles are "it".

So when do you start decorating?

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I'd like to TRY some year to get them started the day after T-day, but reality sets in and I don't get decorating till usually the first weekend in December. Not sure how much I'll do this year though seeing as we'll be leaving for the UK just 3 weeks from today. I don't want the house bare though... :(

Normally, it is the first weekend in December, but I have not decorated in over 5 years. It just feels silly to do it alone. I will be happy when my fiancée gets here. I'm sure that event will return my mood for holiday decorated again.

I've never had my own tree before. Maybe I should get a small one this year.

I was just thinking the same thing. We got a big tree that we decorated at my parents house but we don't have anything at our apartment. I always love the smell of a fresh Christmas tree.

My wife wants to get a small one this year too. I was confused, why bother since we don't celebrate. She thinks it'll be fun.

really? you don't even do the present swapping thing?

Nope. Starting this year though my wife is buying presents for my family. I'm a little unhappy about it because it's just one more thing we have to spend money on :)

It just occurred to me that maybe this means I have to get her something too.
