What are your favourite movies to watch around Christmas time???

Mine are...

The Santa Clause - (only the first one - the 2 sequels suck.. why mess with a good thing?? )

American Christmas Carol - Henry Winkler is in this one...

The Muppets Christmas Carol

While You were sleeping - I know it isn't really a Christmas movie but the story does take place around Christmas time

Little Women - the one with Winona Ryder - same reason as above...

Miracle on 34th Street - the newer version

there are probably more but that is all I can think of right now...

I knew "A Christmas Story," would be posted fast.

I personally loved that movie for several reasons. It captured being a little kid and wishing and wishing for a gift and the waiting and anticipation for that month.

It showed the dynamics of bullies, being the oldest kid, family squabbles, and was placed in the 50's when American nuclear families were the norm and family dinners, one income families, classical parental figures, etc., were not just common, but warmly accepted.

It was also funny and had so many classic scenes. I remember laughing over and over when I first saw that movie.

The part where he comes back to his parents blinded by all the soap that he had to eat really resonates, doesn't it? I remember thinking those things as a kid, "I hope something bad happens to me because of this punishment so I can really lay on the guilt".

Andrew and his high school sweetheart Beth were married for about ten years but their relationship is not as great as it once was, now that Andrew is a high-powered literary agent. Beth is tragically killed on Christmas Eve while rescuing the neighbors' dog. Lionel, an angel, gives Andrew a chance to relive the last three days his wife was alive. But there's a catch, he cannot change the fate of his wife. There's only one gift he can give to save her life and he only has a very short time to figure out what that gift is.
