Timeline

Back in August we started the removing of conditons. Took forever for the check to be cashed. It was really helpful during a stressful time to see on the timelines other people who were filing at the same time as we were and what was happening to their case versus our case. I saw that many were having the same problem as we were. so i didnt think our case was an isolated case. SO, i agree that timelines and postings can be very helpful. I tried to follow the ones that were in the same line as our and when their approval came thru. that didnt mean ours would be the same but gave a timeframe of when ours "Might be" approved. it did help to relieve a lot of worry on our part. Since then we have received approval on the removing of conditons on Nov 16th and receive the 10 year green card on 11-23 which i posted immediately.

I wish I had a timeline to update!!! :D

I was originally referred to this board to get information about the K1 and K3 visa and processes.

The information that I read was really useful even though I wasn't filing at that particular point in time.

Now that we're married I hope to be filing soon. I Wish that I could have filed sooner and already be living with my hubby now, but things just didn't happen as fast as we wanted.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and it is my opinion that my timeline would not be helpful to anyone. Those who believe that your timeline is helpful to others, I'm happy for you. Personally, I rarely look at anyone else's because I haven't found individual timelines to be relevent to my case. It seems, also, that people get real negative about them if theirs doesn't compare favorably to another. Posting a timeline is not the price of admission, and if some folks are suspicious of or prejudiced against members who don't post theirs, well, there are plenty of other helpful folks who don't care if you have one or not. I'm one of them.

You are right. Posting a timeline is not the price of admission. By doing so, however, you help to keep the stats on the board for a given consulate more accurate.

Maybe your case is not like others. That is fine. However, if some part takes forever or is arduous, it may help others to see when they visit here that not everything is walk in the park.

I look at providing our timeline as the LEAST I can do to help the board that has provided me with so much information.

Finally, who cares if people get negative when they compare their timeline to yours. Some on this board right now get negative saying we got the visa quickly. I look at that as their fault. If I saw someone's timeline was so quick, I would want to get in contact with them and find out what was it they did or what made their situation so unique to get through more quickly than others.

i agree with this completely. something else i was thinking of was that timelines provide context for the content of your posts related to immigration stuff. that's pretty important when assessing the validity of any advice given here. the methodology's far from perfect, but in this setting a timeline can be rather helpful for that.

I havent updated my timeline because I went through this process a long time ago and I dont remember the details (but know I didnt have a hard time or AP or anything like that). I plan to put the info in there at some point when I have time to go through my files. I came to Visa Journey which is listed as a "Family Immigration Community" because at the time we were considering petitioning for some family members to come over. I stayed in the MENA forum because most of what is discussed is cultural issues and things with which I can relate and find support. I know thats not OK with some, but hopefully its OK with most!

I don't think this thread was made to single out people that don't update their timelines but quite often I will see people make announcements and I don't even know who they are. I think the timelines are very important to everyone on this site. If there are a few people who don't feel their timeslines would be beneficial that is fine but the message of updating timelines is an important one.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

If it were compulsary and someone wanted to troll around, it's easy enough to invent a timeline, and that wouldn't do anyone any good. There would just be a bunch of garbage throwing off the stats. Trolls usually make themselves obvious pretty quickly. I do agree, though, that timelines help everyone, including the member wanting accurate advice.
