These rumours ebb and flow. The tragedy is that it's often a means for some ego/power crazed person to manipulate people into doing crazy things from suicide to handing over large funds of money to the 'leaders'. Mass manipulation in the name of religion...I abhor that.

Not enough information for me to understand why you even mentioned this.

If you don't want people who belong to this church to mention it, then why did you?

There are lots of things that are going to happen in this world that we will not understand or know before hand.

If you live fearful everyday of "future events" then how are you going to live?

What ever they are planning I am sure it will make the news.

Seriously, the LDS Church has been telling it's members for years to be prepared for hard times in the future. Food storage, getting out of debt, etc. And at the same time the leaders have always stated that they have no more of an idea about when tragic events were going to occur than anyone else... it's just good to be prepared for the unknown/unexpected. If your "friend" tells you anything different then it's only his/her opinion and he/she might need to be under the supervision of a shrink.
