I think that when it comes to this journey there are no small steps - every action on part of USCIS is like a small miracle that we all learn to cherrish... sad but true - the miracle of USCIS...

Please note that the procedure for the K-1 visa is different than that of the CR-1.

A K-1 stays at NVC just a few weeks, then goes to the consulate.

But a CR-1 involves much more processing at this level -- the affidavit of support, the DS-230, etc. -- all the stuff the K-1 does during the Adjustment of Status process. So a CR-1 takes about 3-4 months to process at NVC before going to the consulate. The reward for going through the extra wait is -- the CR-1 gives immediate right to work and travel, and you don't have to sit on your hands waiting for AOS later !

the biggest thing is the CR1 lets my husband interview in an Algerian friendly consulate ALGIERS instead of the K3 which would make him have to go all the way to Tunis because we were married in Tunis and frankly i have seen a hell of alot of denials of Algerian k3s out of there as well as K3s in general because of the ease of marrying there as opposed to Algeria. You just do not see many cr1s out of Algeria because it takes a long time to get permission to marry in Algeria ( sometimes 4 months to 6 months) and then by that time ,someone could go over to tunis get married and come back and file the K3.(which was my original intention before my lawyer lost my 170 check and then sent it in without the check and it came back rejected.. which at that point I had lost so much time that it no longer made any sense to do the k3. I just got approved a month ahead of the visa timelines ( they were projecting January) so that first month will be fee bills and I will be kind of inline with an approved 129 in late dec jan.. I am actually better off with my cr1 as aggravated as that makes me LOL.. because now I dont have to wait for a 129 to catch up and they have been taking forever and my husband doesnt have to fly to Tunis to interview . He can just go to Algiers and then go home and wait.. and go for his medical and all his stuff there.

Great News! The NVC supposedly schedules "approved" cases every second week of the month. So it's possible that by mid-December you will have an interview date scheduled also.

Aren't they doing the CR1/IR1? If so it won't happen that fast. The process for the K-1/K-3 is different. Ours was for the CR1 and it was in the NVC for about 4 months. Its worth the wait though because it was so much easier when he got here.

Wharania, have you thought about what happens if you start getting the papers while you are in Morocco? I don't know when you are going and how long you will be there, but there is a chance that the papers will start coming while you are still there.

Oh yes...congratulations! And yes it is a big deal.

That is excellent! Then you can go and just enjoy your time with your hubby. When do you leave?
