Congrats!!

Wael had his home visit Aug 4 and it was basically one investigator who asked the store owners around his apartment if they him, if he was married, did they know me, how long was I here, when was the last time he saw me, and where he lived. The store owners told him the same thing that yes, they knew him and also knew me very well. Then the investigator went to Wael's apartment and only wanted to speak to his parents (his mom wasn't home). He told Wael he didn't want to speak with him. The investigator asked his dad if he approved of our marriage, how long was my visit , where did we live. Wael's uncle came to the apartment at the time the investigator was there and he also asked the uncle if he knew me, had he talked with me and did I live in the apartment.

He never spoke of the visa process or the security clearance as Wael's family never asked.

Can't say how long till you will know something as it was 4 more months till Wael recevied his visa.

Good luck and hope the process is speedy!!

does this home visit happen to men only?? or it has nothing to do with gender?

It's for the applicant and gender has nothing to do with the visits. It would be at

the request of the Embassy.

Our interview was in June, too. It seems that they are getting around to some of the cases that have been just sitting there.

Good luck to everyone !!

Yes, it looks like our spouses had their interviews on the same day, June 14, 2007. :)

Is this waiting driving you totally insane as it is me?!! I get the same e-mail response each time, " your case is pending AP, we will contact your husband once the process has been completed." I want to scream everytime I see these words!! I am happy at least something has finally happened, I was beginning to think they forgot about us.

BEST WISHES

Woow I hope things move fast for you. I am a little confused on this home visit and AP thing. I see some people get their Visa very quickly after interview. So I guess what I am asking is what determines whether you go to AP or not. Is K3 more likely than K1 to go to AP? I am aware there are certian red flags that can place you into AP. Anyway any insight into this AP thing will be greatly appreciated.

When I try to make sense of who gets the long AP's and who doesn't I go nuts. Some are obvious however such as sparrow who's husband was already in the US for a considerable amount of time at one point in his life and they had dated while he lived here. Others are not so obvious and when I try to wrap my head around it I go bonkers. My suggestion is to just take it one day at a time and don't put any expectations about the timing of it one way or another or you'll set yourself up for disappointment. (F)

Very true Bridget !

There's no telling why people go through AP faster or slower than others.

Just be prepared for the long haul.

When I signed up for VJ, I saw on the timelines that the average time for Cairo visas was about 300 days (or something like that). So, I automatically had it in my mind that it would be about a year. We just reached the year mark on Dec. 3rd (the day we filed the I-130 DCF) and so I am not freaking out yet.

(That doesn't mean that my husband hasn't worried. He had a general idea that it would take 4-5 months MAX and so he hasn't been pleased with how everything has dragged along.)

Just be patient and look to your friends (VJ and otherwise) to help you get through.

Its good to know that time and resources are being wasted looking under every rock, behind every bush, and focusing on "potential threats" from honest people who bother to send in their names, addresses, birth certificates, work history, address history, and biographical information that would make them nice and easy to find.

Hell, we sent all that in right to the USCIS address and they couldnt find US for (2) months. I feel soooooooo safe.

I wonder, just wonder, what would happen if they focused attention on looking ELSEWHERE? Nah, that's too hard.

Well Sunday 1-13 -08 My husbands mom got a call. They couldn't find the home so they called instead. Another home investigation. They wanted to know if his parents approved of our marriage. And If his mom knew we had a age diffrence. If she knew my name and she told them Cheryl and then she told him that i just traveled back home. The man was shocked. Then he talked to my husband for a while. I'm not getting my hopes up. We all know how Cairo works.

Damn how many times does Cairo need to check with the family? I made a post about a couple we met in Sharm waiting for their visa after 15 months and she emailed me back and said that yesterday Cairo called for the family phone number of her fiancé. I was just thinking they already had a home visit according to her so why would Cairo be checking back again? Well, looks like Cairo would rather beat a dead horse than just issue the visa. Anyway, I hope you get good news soon Cheryl.
