Hi,

I feel for you in your situation, as our timeline is not far off yours, and I am the UK citizen. Right now I am about to go home after three months here in the USA with Sidiq, and I am really worried it will take months for this K1 to process, and I will not see him again for a long time.

Its a really hard call to make, but I have just tried to see this time in the UK as an opportunity to spend time with family and friends before I emigrate, and also to make some money, as the exchange rate is so good for the pound right now! So, if he decides not to risk it at POE try and think of it positively, and if you do best of luck!

Just hold tight, I know its horrible, as this visa process time frame is really " how long is a piece of string", but you are almost there, and January, February etc are always depressing months anyway!

Your NOA2 must be due very soon now and London can move pretty quickly if you provide them with a specific wedding date to meet. I personally found that the last few months after the NOA2 and before the interview were the hardest. Although they were the shortest period it seemed to drag for me especially when work required me to work 2 months notice. I had to hand in my notice before the interview in order to be able to leave when I wanted to.

remember that he is does decide to come for the 90 days after he retires that he will not be allowed to bring over any of his belongings except for the clothing that he will immediately need - anything more will send up a big red flag and almost definitely lead to a denial of entry. He does need to go back to the UK for the medical, for the interview and to arrange for his belongings to be transported to the US. They can only come with him or after him - not before and he has to provide the shipping company with a copy of his approved visa and the I-94 document that US immigration put into his passport when he enters the US.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

RoseMarie,

Firstly congratulations on your interview success!

I would like to know what you need to provide London with to prove your wedding date is imminent? Is it just a brought ticket to the USA or do you need hotel reservations etc for the weddding date?

Thanks for your help,

Lily

Thanks to everyone for all of the suggestions.

He has sold all of his belongings and what he is bringing is already here.

He will continue to work as long as he wants - yes the exchange rate is awesome and he has no bills right now at all. The friends that he is staying with will not take anything for his keep. They are very awesome - so all of the money that he is making comes right to me. He has a company car which he will be able to use as long as he wants. His company has been awesome and actually, his company is a distributor for my company and he is good friends with my boss. That makes it nice when he visits and has been able to come here on "company business" and spend all of the time with me. In fact, one day I had to work and he just came to work with me and learned more about our product that he sells for us in the UK.

I know that we are very fortunate and I don't take any of our time together for granted because I know there are so many of you out there who havn't seen your loved ones in so long. I hope for all of us a speedy journey.

where did you get this information? I've done extensive enquiring and it's the first I've heard of that...

(the visa and I-94 bit, I mean; I know that you have to be in the country to receive a shipment addressed to you :) )

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Sure you know this but pays to mention ...

If you fly to the US from Ireland (Dublin or Shannon) the POE is in Ireland. So in the off chance that he is refused he doesn't have to pay for a trans atlantic flight home. Could even hang out with a guiness for a day until the flights are cheapish.

This is what I was told by the excess baggage company I am hiring to ship my stuff for me. They need to have a copy of a work authorised visa and your photo passport page in order to ship your belongings to the USA. According to the Social Security document that someone else posted on this site a K1 is work authorised.

Thanks very much :) I didn't provide any proof of a wedding date but there is a field on the form for you to enter one. In my case my tenancy for my flat was expiring at the end of this month and I needed to be able to ship my belongings before then so I sent them a copy of the tenancy agreement with a cover letter explaining my circumstances.
