IR-1/CR-1 VERSUS K-3

Hello all,

Thank you for your great advice to everyone, and even though this subject has been talked about a lot before, I still have a question.

According to our timeline, our 1-130 should be adjudicated on December 8th 2007 and our I-129F on February 7th 2008 (thanks to our lawyer who waited 3 months before sending it...).

Anyways, I have understood from what you wrote that the K-3 goes faster than the IR-1/CR-1 THOUGH since there are two months between when the I-130 should be adjudicated and when the I-129F should be, don't you think we should stick with the I-130?

Also, is it really that longer to go for the IR-1/CR-1 than the K-3?

In our case what would you recommand?

K-3 tends to be quicker in most cases due to it passing through NVC quickly like K-1. The CR-1 lately has been only a month or so longer getting approved than K-3

K-3 is much more costly in added fees to adjust status in the USA ($1010) and more painful due to fact that the K-3 cannot work for at least 90 days while waiting for EAD card. CR-1 is an immigrant visa which gets green-card upon entry, (NO adjustment of status, and NO EAD card needed to work)

Problem is once the I-129F is filed the K-3 is started and there is no choice but to let it run its course there is no telling them to cancel the K-3, the choice needs to be made before sending in the I-129F.
